Well it's been a really exciting day here
in Bengaluru where Ultraviolet has showcased a lot
of new technology and exciting stuff
and that also includes a new motorcycle which is the X-47
Venom. We will come back to that in more detail
but more importantly we have with us
Neeraj Rajmohan who is the co-founder and CTO for UV.
Well welcome to the show and
first of all congratulations for the successful launch
of the new platform and the Venom. Can
Can you quickly, for our viewers,
give us the highlights of the new platform and the bike as well?
Right. So, today is actually a very big day for us.
We, you know, do these every couple of years
when we announce a new platform entirely from scratch.
And today, we are announcing the VX100,
which is a 100-volt architecture on the platform.
And the first production motorcycle, first production two-wheeler
that's coming out of this platform is the X47 Venom, right?
and with that it sort of brings in capabilities across
the board from performance to handling to
dynamics to the weight reduction to increased range
to capabilities in terms of multiple
cameras radars recording
so all of these capabilities now being packed into one single
vehicle which is a very compelling proposition
on every single front well Neeraj I have to be honest
you know the word venom had been hinted to us
and most of the people or fans of UV out there
were expecting it to be based on the F77.
Right. But X47 is here, the Venom is here,
any particular reason why you guys started off with this one?
I think in terms of sheer adoption
and accessibility what we have seen,
yes the F77 is a sports motorcycle, people love it, it's very
niche in its segment as well
but where we thought we'll first introduce it is in a segment where
already the demand is quite interesting it
is across sports motorcycles adventure motorcycles
street motorcycles and all of those capabilities
are already there on the X47 as a platform
but now it got like a super boost with you know the VX100
and i think that's where we decided to
bring it in first but that's not all right
so in the next one year you will see the entire
VX100 platform come on all
of our different vehicles it's only a matter of time if you
could quickly highlight the performance boost part for our viewers.
What are the changes and
what are the improvements based on the earlier bike?
So today the X47 Benham as a motorcycle
is capable of doing 0-60 in sub 3 seconds,
0-100 in 5.9 seconds and to get that kind of performance
you would have to spend at least 5 lakhs on a petrol bike
and that is available starting at 2.65
lakhs on the X47. So that itself is a and which means
that today we are much quicker than any
you know 200, 300, 310, 350,
450 even 650cc bikes out there and I think that makes it a very
compelling proposition along with all of the other capabilities
on the X47. Yeah and for those of you
who are fans of the brand
and this motorcycle out there that 2.65 lakh price is an introductory
offer for the first 5000 customers, I think,
and after that, it's going to be Rs. 3 lakh actually.
But sticking to the improvements and everything else here,
there is a lot of new additions in
the safety and the kind of battery architecture
that everything that we were being told,
can you please shed some light on that?
Yeah, absolutely. So, on the batteries,
right, so what we have introduced,
now we have five levels of safety, we have electrical,
electronic, safe, you know, software, mechanical and thermal.
And today, for the first time,
we are introducing a new electromechanical component,
a subsystem called a pyrofuse.
And this pyrofuse essentially is what operates
in tens of milliseconds to protect the battery
and the riders from any catastrophic circumstance
by completely disconnecting the battery through a
pyro element. And this is essentially something very similar
to what is used in airbags when
impact happens. And that kind of technology
is being offered for the first time on any two-wheeler
globally with the X47 Venom well X47 was already you know one
of the safest bikes out there because
of that radar based safety technology that it comes
with and now of course it is a lot better
than before and just like that many other improvements have
been done to the X47 Venom
and what more can we expect
with the new platform i've already here right so today uh there's so
many features that we spoke about each
of those takes you know a couple of minutes to talk about
But with the new vehicle control unit
and with the new cluster that we have, it's called Interface X.
What we're introducing is the capability to work with dual cameras,
dual integrated cameras on these vehicles.
Which means that even from a rider safety point of view,
you don't need a special helmet camera or a chest mounted camera
to record things for insurance or for other purposes.
So it's integrated into the vehicle as well.
vehicle as well and further
the new vehicle control unit works with the radars, the rear
facing radar which can track objects up to 200 meters.
It works in millisecond levels across
the entire battery management system, motor controller
which is also a new introduction that we spoke about
and the entire vehicle as a whole is
now 20 kilos lighter which is,
I mean to my mind as we put together all of these things
to bring out the vehicle,
it resulted in a phenomenal increase in performance as well.
Well, it was certainly great talking to you Indraj,
but before I let you go, I have to
for our viewers ask,
how soon can we see all of this new technology and other ultraviolet
models as well?
Right.
Are there plans?
How will they unravel in the coming time?
So I'd say by the same time next year,
all of the products with the, you know, new platform
would already be out there and in the hands of customers.
So this is not far.
In fact, we've been building up the
capability over the last eight years.
But we are very particular about making sure
that what we put out there is, you know, up to a global standard.
So, here we are.
And how soon can we expect the deliveries?
Deliveries of this start next month in November.
So, for the festive season.
Thank you so much for talking to us and being a part of this show.
Thank you.
And we'll catch you guys in the next one.
