Four Parades Wind Through Athens’ Bustling Streets and Famous Landmarks

On October 9 and 10, Falun Gong practitioners held two parades each day, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The European Tian Guo Marching Band led the procession, followed by a magnificent golden dragon, a formation carrying banners, a lion dance team, and a waist drum team.
The parades began at Kotzia Square, opposite Athens City Hall. The procession then proceeded along Stadiou Street toward Syntagma Square, continued along Ermou Street, passed the lively Monastiraki Square, and finally arrived at Thissio Square. Located in the city center, Monastiraki Square is a popular spot for visitors to enjoy views of the Acropolis of Athens.
Along the route, which passed through busy shopping streets and famous tourist attractions, many local residents and visitors stopped to watch and take photos with their phones. Some applauded, waved, cheered, or gave thumbs-up signs in support. Others sang and danced along to the rhythm of the Tian Guo Marching Band. Many said they were deeply impressed by the peaceful atmosphere of the parades and described the band’s music as beautiful and powerful.
