Miami is an incredible city and it has a proven track record
of delivering international mega events.
You only have to look back to the Men's World Cup,
the Men's Club World Cup,
to see the track record that the city has
for football and major events.
It's going to be massively exciting.
We saw the energy that the fans brought in London
for the first edition of this competition
and you can just imagine in Miami that's going to go to the next level.
When you've got clubs like Corinthians,
the energy that their fans bring,
you combine that with a brand new stadium,
an incredible city, massive international
connectiveness in that city,
it's just going to be an absolute celebration of women's club football.
First and foremost, for the first time in the history
of the women's game, in the history of
FIFA, we will be able to crown a world champion
in the women's club game and that is a massive
milestone. I think also what this represents
for young girls all over the world is absolutely
massive it means that no matter what country you're
in around the world no matter what your
pathway may be you can now also dream to become a world champion
and for me that is massive the
flow-on effects of that are massive we're taking
the inaugural edition to the USA the USA we know
are already in love with the women's game
the US women's national team are heroes it's the biggest
sporting team in the country already
so taking the inaugural edition there is just going to
absolutely give it the attention, the focus,
the prioritization that it deserves. And it means we'll
be able to launch this new competition
for the first time in an absolutely fantastic way. This
is a really big milestone for us.
I think for the fans, for the players, for the clubs, this is where
they really can start to feel the competition is becoming real.
And some of the matchups that you
can imagine from those first seven clubs already are going to be epic.
Imagine Barcelona, Corinthians,
we have Arsenal. I mean,
you can imagine the atmosphere in the stadiums and the competitiveness
that the football will showcase.
It's going to be absolutely incredible. What we know very
concretely is that global competitions drive development.
And not only development, they drive
professionalisation, they drive exposure,
visibility, they provide a platform to showcase
the best athletes that we have in our sport.
So we know that global competitions are an absolute
catalyst for the growth of our game
and now with the introduction of a club competition at
international level every year in addition
to our FIFA Women's World Cup which is in its 10th
edition we have these beautiful moments every year where
our athletes are showcased they're put on
the world stage and what that means is every year there
are these inspirational moments that young
girls can look up to because the competitions
are amazing of course they're a showpiece but it's the
flow-on effect that they have to the entire pyramid of football,
to the development of the
game, to the popularity, to the increase in participation,
it's incredible and I think
these new competitions are going to be an absolute game changer
for the women's football landscape.
