Otto von Bismarck - The Iron Chancellor Who Made Germany Documentary
Otto von Bismarck's wars with Austria and France, the 1871 Empire and his fall in 1890: a full documentary on the Iron Chancellor who unified Germany.
A Prussian landowner's son, born at Schönhausen in 1815, Otto von Bismarck became Minister President of Prussia in 1862 and, serving King Wilhelm I, pursued German unification through three short wars, against Denmark, against Austria in 1866 and against France from 1870 to 1871. The German Empire was proclaimed at Versailles in January 1871, and as its first chancellor he built a network of European alliances, fought the Kulturkampf against the Catholic Church and introduced pioneering social insurance schemes. Wilhelm II dismissed him in 1890, and he died at Friedrichsruh in 1898.
