What's behind protests in Portugal?

Protests have swept Europe. In Albania, the capital has turned into a battleground between police and protesters. They have a range of demands, but all agree on one thing. Prime Minister Edi Rama must go, but he's refused to resign because he says he has a mission to end the unrest. He says it's caused by outside actors. I don't want them to make a living out of this. This is a waste of money. One major flashpoint was the Ministry of Education. Police responded with water cannons and tear gas, sending crowds running through Tirana streets. And rubber bullets seem to have been used for the first time. I think that they're not relenting, so I think it's going to get even worse. Their frustration is not new. The protests began in the summer over costly university education, poor conditions and the lack of jobs. Then, they widened into a broader anti-government movement. Now they've been joined by the Flamingo Revolution, originally formed to oppose a luxury tourism project linked to Jared Kushner's investment company. The European Commission has warned several times that corruption remains a serious problem. If one image has come to symbolize the protests, it's demonstrators setting a suitcase on fire and throwing it into the Ministry of Education compound. Their message, they do not want to pack up and leave Albania. They want to stay and fight for a better future.
