Inspiring Short: The Rest of the Story

This moving short film highlights the profound impact of mentorship through the personal story of C. Shane Reese, the 14th president of BYU. As a lonely and discouraged first-year student ready to pack his bags and leave campus, his path was completely transformed by a short meeting with a young law professor who treated him as an individual rather than just a student ID number. In a powerful twist, the kind mentor who took time out of his busy day to encourage him was Kevin J. Worthen, who went on to become the 13th president of the university. The narrative beautifully honors the spirit of inspiring learning and the enduring legacy of guidance, showing how one simple act of individual attention forever changed the futures of two university presidents. #byuspeeches #inspiration #mentorship #byu #shanereese #kevinworthhen #studentlife #leadership #encouragement #highereducation
