Emily in Paris is back with the third season,
and our favorite character faces some of the
biggest challenges in her professional and personal life.
That girl made us fall in love
with her immediately, and the newest season
was quite impressive. Keep watching till the
end of this video, because we're going
to discuss everything related to the third season of Emily
in Paris, and you'll be amazed.
The third season finally dropped. Emily in Paris follows Emily
Cooper, who moved to France to provide
an American point of view to Savoie, a French marketing
company.
I'm Emily.
Emily Cooper, you're your new neighbor?
American.
Oui.
From Chicago.
Gabriel.
French.
From Normandy.
In addition to her struggles with French culture
and lifestyle, the TV show follows Emily's
personal struggles with her new friends and new romantic relationships.
Yeah, not just a relationship, but relationships, in plural.
The long-awaited third season of Emily
in Paris finally dropped on Netflix as an early
Christmas treat on December 21st,
and we've already binge-watched the whole ten episodes.
And now, in Season 3, Emily will face even bigger challenges at work
and in her love life,
which will make her question every
decision she has taken in the last year.
Who's back? Lily Collins is, of course, back as Emily Cooper.
You remember the ending of
Season 2 when she was in front of a big dilemma, right?
She had to choose between two options.
Keep working for her pregnant Chicago boss,
Madeline, or follow her Paris boss,
Sylvie. Besides her professional life,
season two ended with some questions about her personal life
as well. Her friendship with Camille was still cracked,
and her love life was hard as she had
to decide between her feelings for Gabriel
and a different future with Alfie. Lucas Bravo is also
back in the third season as Gabriel,
head chef at Chez Lavoie and Emily's neighbor with whom she
had an affair while he was still with Camille.
I love it.
Everything is perfect."
He was caught in a love triangle with Emily and Camille,
and at the end of Season 2, Camille
moved in with Gabriel.
I didn't realize you were here.
Did I tell you?
Gabriel asked me to move in.
Camille Rizad is returning as Camille,
Lucien Laviscount as Alfie, Ashley Park returns
as Mindy Chen, Emily's best friend
and other cast members include Philippine LeRoy Beaulieu
as Sylvie, Kate Walsh as Madeline Wheeler,
Samuel Arnold as Julian, Bruno Gowrie as Luke,
William Abadie as Antoine Lambert.
Paul Foreman will be back as Nicolas de Leon,
while Milia Kreling is returning as Sophia Sideris.
What happened in the finale?
Truth must be told, this season was quite impressive and
epic with lots of drama and unexpected huge twists.
Earlier this month, Lily Collins warned
viewers that they would be shocked,
revealing that in the finale, it all kind of blows up and
that the ending would be the ultimate cliffhanger.
The finale begins with the newly engaged Gabrielle
working to reopen his restaurant
with the hopes of earning a Michelin star.
And we're told that later in the week,
his fiancée Camille will host an engagement party
at her family chateau, to which the whole crew is invited.
Emily continues to keep Camille's
affair with artist Sophia from Gabriel,
holding fast to her decision to not get involved,
made even more awkward when she runs
into the pair having lunch in the lead-up to the engagement
party. Naturally, all tensions come to a head at the engagement party.
Gabrielle learns that
his restaurant looks highly likely to earn
a coveted Michelin star and, in the throes of
excitement, impulsively suggests to Camille
that they get married right away. Only once in the
actual chapel, Camille realizes she can't,
in fact, marry him, sounding the death knell for
their relationship when she says in front of the congregation,
"'Gabrielle, the only reason we're together
is because I knew you were in love with Emily.
You and Emily have been in love
with each other since the moment you met.'"
And when Emily and Gabrielle meet outside the chapel,
Gabrielle reveals some shocking news that Camille is pregnant.
Gabrielle reveals to Emily
that the reason Camille came home early from Greece wasn't
just because she missed him, but because she's expecting a baby.
So it makes sense why he was
in such a good mood when Emily bumped into him outside
their apartment building a few episodes
back.
"'I heard all the endings and thought they were alts.
Then I realized they were all the
endings at once. I was like, wait, there's a wedding?
And then there's a wedding that
doesn't happen? Or this engagement that turns
into a wedding that turns into a non-wedding?
Which turns into a pregnancy announcement? Which turns into, like,
what the F happened?" Collins said about the finale script.
Camille Razat provided some insight into what
her character might be feeling as well.
First of all, the marriage.
I feel there's so much pressure on Camille to get married also, because
during the party, it was not planned to get married so soon,
and the parents are pushing her,
and Gabrielle is like, oh, let's get married tonight. And she's like,
okay. I think deep down she wants it,
and she knows that it is not going to happen already.
But maybe she's doing it because she's pregnant,
and she thinks that's the way it has to be.
In some way, she has to be with Gabrielle.
That's the love of her life. She's been with
him for such a long time.
She has a baby coming, so it's the logical thing to do.
I think she still has Sofia in mind.
I think she really does like Sofia,
and I think she doesn't want to do what people expect her to do.
I think she wants to be her own person, on her own path."
The show's creator, Darren Star,
broke down Camille's decision not to go through with
the wedding, saying that a number of aspects went
into the character's choice. He said,
"'I think ultimately she is a character
who would never want to manipulate somebody into marriage.
I think there's so many things that were involved,
from making a pact with Emily,
to feeling that Gabrielle would have
to marry her out of any sense of obligation,
to also sensing that they, Gabrielle and Emily,
have a kind of relationship that she knows she
doesn't have with Gabrielle.
I think he lights up around Emily in a way that she knows that he
doesn't around her. I think she's
also maybe fallen in love with somebody else, although I
don't know that that's the total reason.
And this idea that she's living out her mother's life and
her mother's dreams for her and wondering,
is she really following her own heart and her own life?
The wedding was a rushed moment.
It's not so difficult to break an engagement, and had she
had a lot of time to think about it?
I think faced with basically a shotgun wedding, I think she
realized she could not at that moment.
She just couldn't make that commitment."
He also described the finale as a big firework.
"'From the moment we get into that church,
the way it's written and the way it unravels,
everything makes sense, and it
also takes you back to things that happened before,
and it connects to everything from previous seasons
and episodes. It just feels like a
big firework. The way Alfie leaves the church is very strong.
The way Camille leaves me at
the altar and that last scene with Emily, we were so focused.
And when Darren told me,
Emily, you have the last word this season.
I feel invested with the mission. It's always
very alive on set on Emily,
and that night you could hear the flies and everybody was
so silent, and the moon was full and we were just in silence."
Should we be waiting for Season 4?
Even though Season 3 just arrived on Netflix, we are thirsty
for Season 4. And actually,
it might return for the fourth chapter sooner than you think.
In January of 2022, only a month after Netflix released Season 2,
Emily in Paris was renewed
for seasons 3 and 4. After a huge season 3 finale,
so many characters will be heading
into the upcoming season with uncertainty.
Though Netflix hasn't revealed the official
storyline for the upcoming season,
the shocking season 3 finale certainly gives a few clues
about what will come next, and undoubtedly,
there will be a lot of relationship dramas.
Even though it doesn't appear that season
4 has started filming yet, it will likely
pick up in 2023. And if Emily in Paris season 4 follows
the same release schedule as past
seasons, the new season could likely premiere sometime
in the fall of 2023.
What do you think about Emily in Paris?
"...surprisingly tender."
"...See?
I knew you'd like it if you give it a chance."
Weren't you shocked in the finale?
Are you waiting for the new season?
