Small-Space Living: A North Toronto Home Gets a Warm, Thoughtful Makeover

In this classic North Toronto home, designers Kate Dickson and Alex Rasper of Dickson Design Group make every inch count, pairing smart storage with warm, inviting finishes. “The challenge with smaller homes is balancing as much storage as you possibly can while having an open space that allows the room to breathe,” says Kate.
At the entrance, a thoughtfully designed mudroom creates a buffer between the front door and the living room, with custom built-in storage, a bench and a catch-all shelf for everyday essentials. A warm, taupey palette brings cohesion to the compact space, from the mushroom-hued kitchen cabinets and dining banquette to the living room fireplace, finished with a sleek stone surround.
