Introduction:
Henry VIII executed more than 57000 during his 36-year reign. That was more than four executions per day for every day of his reign.
He was also infamous for executing two wives, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, for either legitimate or fabricated reasons. The incident that almost led to the arrest and execution of Catherine Parr, took place in 1546, less than a year before Henry died.

Catherine Parr, the Reformer: As Queen, Catherine Parr openly promoted her reformist views like Anne Boleyn. She believed that she became Queen through divine intervention, and she must fulfill her sacred duty. By 1546, she has already published two religious books, including one in her name. Making her the first woman author and Queen to publish a book.

Angering Henry VIII: Catherine Parr often debated religion with Henry when she tended to Henry's painful leg wound. She also mistook Henry's silence as tacit approval. She also repeatedly tried to persuade Henry VIII to take further steps to reform the church.Henry was religiously conservative despite breaking with Rome to divorce Catherine of Aragon. Katherine Parr did not realize that she had overstepped her bound in Henry's mind

Warrant of Arrest for Katherine Parr: After a heated debate with Catherine Parr, Henry commented to the conservative Bishop Gardiner. Gardiner saw Henry's irritation as the opportunity he needed to secure Although Catherine was born Catholic and was the Goddaughter of Catherine of Aragon, she expressed clear reformist views after becoming Queen.

In 1545, Wriothesley had arrested and tortured Anne Askew and tried to link her to all members of Catherine Parr. Gardiner and Wriothesley believed that if they could arrest Catherine Parr, they could remove one of the reformers' most influential supporters.

Catherine Found Out: Henry VIII did not tell Catherine about her possible arrest. He summoned his physician, Dr. Thomas Wendy, and informed him of the plot, knowing that Dr. Wendy was close to Catherine.
He also left a copy of the charges to be discovered by someone in Catherine's household.
Catherine became hysterical, and Henry sent Dr. Wendy to see her. Dr. Wendy promptly informed Catherine of what Henry had told Him.
