Okay, welcome guys to the weekly strategy session where we try
and make ends meet.
Okay, not odds and ends, let's make them meet.
All right, so let's just have a look at this, right?
So what I want to do is get you guys thinking
a little bit more instead of just sitting there.
Now, Kevin, Stephen, you're up the curve.
Jason's just come on board.
He's picking things up pretty quickly.
But so at the start of the week, right, every week,
and this is without a doubt, sometimes there isn't a theme,
but there's a theme for the week.
Every time you come to the markets each week, you look at the markets.
Last week, it was the US CPI numbers.
Now, that doesn't mean it can't be a fizzer
and it doesn't it can't discombobulate the market.
but what the anticipation is there's usually
a structure around the the core week and that comes
to the data right that's this is where everything's sort
of you know everyone's doing their technical
analysis but when do the markets kick
into gear it's around the economic numbers so let me put
it to you guys um well you're a little bit fresh Jay
do you want to have a crack at what the theme
of the week is?
Oh, Jay.
I don't know about that dust yet.
All right.
What about you?
Give it a shot, mate.
Come on, give it a shot.
You won't die here.
I actually haven't even had a look
So, yeah, I'm probably at a bit of a loss because I've just been going
through the Game Changer videos.
Yeah, that's cool.
That is good.
Okay, Kevin, what do you think?
Well, yesterday was a bit of a fizzer.
So CAD didn't do much.
No, that's right.
Because we were all lined up for some good stuff there,
but nothing happened.
And now we're down to Swissie, I guess, isn't it?
Really, that's what we're looking at for the rest of the week.
Not really.
Okay, so when you think of Swiss, right?
GBP, is that what you're saying, Swiss?
Yeah, GBP.
Yeah, Sterling.
Sterling, righto.
And sometimes, so what it can usually be is a core number
is the major focus.
And, like, the CAD CPI numbers are a good number.
Being at the start of the week, it doesn't really dominate the week.
But so it's sort of looking through that, right?
US CPI numbers trumps just about everything except
for central bank announcements.
But, yeah, so you scroll down, you're like, Tuesday, all right,
we've got unemployment numbers out of the UK, average earnings,
claimant count change, unemployment.
Then I'll be just scrolling through and you go, oh, Wednesday,
we've got UK CPI, PPI, RPI, the CPI being the main number there.
And then you come down to
the Thursday, you've got Bailey speaking,
the Bank of England governor. And then Friday,
we've got UK retail sales.
Now, this is pretty common. It's about the second,
sometimes the third week of the month,
all the sterling data comes out almost in the same week.
And it's actually really good
because what you get is continuity with the trading, right? If
they're like and this is how quickly things can change right
because if we get um a number here
um well actually just you know one step let me
just go up here uh say we got the unemployment
figures were weak okay cpi was weak um this could
be anything you'd think if everything's weak you'd
be speaking something about that then you got
the uh the s&p numbers in the retail sales figures
week, then you can actually get a really big shift in Sterling.
Now, that's a bit of a stretch to get them all lined up,
but it does and can happen.
I don't know if we're in that phase.
Now, there's one thing.
So Sterling is the theme of the week.
Now, what I would be doing at the start
of the week is just doing the same thing like
I do every day.
I go through the same sort of process.
I check out the news, central bank news, FX news.
It's probably a bit more prominent over the weekend,
so you can sort of see what's happening.
The one thing that stands out for me on just general news, Trump, okay,
his popularity poll is pretty low, which is really good for us
because it means a lot of decisions will be taken out of his hands
and that makes better trading, right?
So just having a look at the markets, I just can't help myself.
I like to have a look.
Quite often at the end of the North American day,
obviously 5 p.m. New York, it's a reset, right, of the stats.
so it's quite often that the majors don't line up
with what else is going on so you give it a
couple of hours and then see how it lines up i have
a look through the major currencies see
what's going on i did this yesterday
and i'm like oh yeah i can see what's going on but it doesn't
get me trading i just like to see where everything
is and then see how nothing's really moved from
yesterday but that's that's a normal monday
and that should give you confidence uh dollar cad's
a little bit lower but the um and as kevin said
you know nothing really came out of those cad cpi
numbers but i look at the calendar especially like monday coming
into tuesday and i'm like okay
it's time to get uh rocket
and rolling sterling sterling sterling sterling i would have my
sterling charts up and what i would do is is just go through
and methodically um like see this i
haven't actually adjusted these trend lines for ages right
so i would just delete them and start
again this is where i put on the tunes and kick back
and just start drawing lines uh it's amazing
how it's not a chore once you sort of make it a bit
of fun of it right the and this is obviously
my favorite job well that's right
that is actually like it is for me i i put on double j
and i sort of sit there and start you know just tuning away have a look
because when you do this
right and this is actually for all your charts
but you do this and i'm just like tuning up where
those points were here right i won't go
and automatically adjust it to the highs i'm like
have a look i'm like cheeky bugger like this thing here right
so this is resistance resistance got a
few hits breaks through this and this is why you should leave
the trend line there for the moment
that that resistance line then becomes support even
though it's sloping from there from the
previous direction and then you look
at that and you're going cheeky bugger look at that it's like
been holding the the line there as well
and where i would sort of start to sort of adjust things
is i would draw you know we've got this low here comes
to a retrace right yeah ready for the up
well it looks like so what we want to do is get all like
then you draw this trend line here
now that this so this is where i would change things
this just as a technical analysis lesson
right so i've started drawing it from that low there may
be another one over here i'll go and
have a look for that in a minute uh
so you got this support line then it's gone up from this
level here right so i draw the trend line
from the lowest point to the next lowest point and that's
where where we are this down trend line here now
is below that new one that's when i would generally
just go okay well that's no longer valid
but that would have been up here after it hit that high
so i'm just trying to track the path of what this thing's doing
and what can you see there
with that adjustment on that trend line there coming back
to retest this trend line again
what's this here broken through yeah it's
the barroom brawl you can see it working this is
what you're looking for this is working hard around
that trend line right that's this isn't
like just a pocket of of trades just
for no reason it's like holy ---- okay that the market is looking
at that trend line so i would leave that there
and there's there's the new trend line so that's
what you're looking for this little things like
that as you go through but so what i was coming
back to is there's a bit of a sequence of things
to do here right first thing is you have a look
at the news you have a look at the calendar
and you map out and you're like okay sterling you know
what i've got to really check out sterling this week
because there's a chance of a continued move
or not then you come into um you start doing
your charts technical levels right so then you can
start look once you've drawn some trend lines right
then you can start so sterling kiwi here
right i'm like all i'm looking
to do is is identify what's been happening okay sterling
kiwi's been going up it's stalled
and it's now starting to sort of just drift away a bit okay
So that's all I'm looking for.
I'm not looking to trade.
I'm just looking for that.
One other key part of the equation is what's
the central bank expected to be doing?
Hike, 93.2%.
Now, if you've read the four general rules
of thumb for rate pricing, if it's fully factored
in and we get stronger numbers, this thing doesn't go up much.
right so when you are looking at this you got wow hike 93.2 percent
that is important to me because
when i look at the numbers here i'm like okay right
so if these numbers are weaker
some of that pricing is going to be unwound
that means sterling will come off right and depending
how far does it come off depends on uh the actual number itself
and then you got the cpi numbers
right probably even like definitely more important than
the unemployment figures for that number
so if we got so stronger numbers here sterling isn't really going
to ratchet up super aggressively
it'll keep going up a little bit
but it's not all the work's already done so if the numbers come out
weak because of that interest rate expectation you can potentially get
an easier trade right
so this is where i start looking around i'm like
okay easier trade here right weaker numbers we're
going to see sterling unwound.
That's where you come back to your charts and go, which of these
charts is going to give me a nice trade to the downside?
Sell sterling or which ones are going
to give me a buy? But we know the market's factored
in higher rates. Stronger numbers
isn't really going to accelerate sterling.
It's already in the market. So weaker numbers will.
So I'll look for things that line up.
And that's where I could actually come back to the shortcut
and go, all right, well, I've got limited for time.
I'll just have a quick look.
All right, yeah, Euro Sterling's got some stuff going on.
Sterling Aussie's going up.
Sterling Kiwi's mixed, as we can see.
So I'll just have a look there.
And I could be doing that each day, actually.
So when you do, you look at your charts,
and I've got the hourly and daily next to each other here.
I will go through and have a look.
I'll write them on my blotter.
this is the smart way to do it right instead
of just getting lazy like i sometimes do um write
down like you want clear opportunities
and there's like six pairs here you can actually go and find
more if you wanted to go through the exotics
but we're looking for opportunities here and i would
go through then i would come back
and just cross check it against say the sterling crosses and then
go oh yeah i was i was i had sterling aussie up
as a buy now we're looking for weaker numbers
right i'm just saying i'm looking for weaker numbers
because that's where i would see a bit
a bigger move right you could be looking
for like you know what if the ducks line up and this is
one of the other things to think of as well
and this more comes into the discussion on the discord
that you should be having um because what i'm saying
is climate change unemployment you saw
this with the well actually it was a bit mixed
in the us cpi numbers but i was going to say
say these numbers are really good numbers right
the employment change is up okay from 67 to say
95 and the unemployment rate goes down
to like 4.8 yeah sterling's going to go up so if that's good
right then there's likelihood is the cpi numbers would be good okay
and vice versa i was almost
put my foot in it because you know the non-farms weren't
that weren't great they weren't terrible
like crazy terrible but the CPI was a little bit stronger
so anyway so you can join the dots here
this is a classic join the dots situation
so when you start breaking it down there's not a lot to be
that you need to do each day right we want
the market to come to us now do you understand what
i mean by that yeah yeah i do yeah we want
the so this is as i was saying like just when even
you're doing your um your charts i just do the charts
and i zone out a bit and i'm like looking
at things going i like the look
of things i'm like okay it's gone up come down broken higher
wow it's just sort of sitting in is this going up
or down then i would go and check well it's
still sort of going up at the moment
with with the bull bear pivot line but it's going to come
back and test i'll check it on the daily charts
and then i would and i'm like yeah oh no it looks
good maybe maybe not it's got to what it's got
to do is it's got to stand out like a like a big
sticks out like a sore thumb and you're like wow i really i'm really juicy
and sore thumb don't go
together bro yeah only if you're a sadistic bastard
that's for sure yeah exactly um so that's
that's where we are so the theme of the week
is definitely sterling right now outside of that
there may be other opportunities coming into play, right?
And if I just sort of scroll down through things,
like these survey numbers, like if you're in front of the screens,
so go back to the mid-'90s, right?
I was trading in London, Citibank, and, you know,
London is the hub of the global markets, even though the North –
this is the weird thing, right?
North America is where all the direction comes from, sort of.
All the transactions, the majority of transactions occur
in the european session
so this these numbers here like back in the 90s it was like oh wow
the guys would be looking at the numbers going okay forecast
is 32 economic sentiment oh wow
it's down at 10 that's not good is it
and like it would take about five minutes for it to tick
down about two or three points
and then boom it'd go like 80 ticks it's like everyone woke up and
went holy ---- that's not good it's a lot more dynamic now
these numbers here are not epic right
i wouldn't be sitting there going oh
my god i'm gonna i'm gonna trade these sentiment numbers
um what when they would be epic is say that's 32
and it comes out at zero you see this on the kiwi
where consumer sentiment can go from like plus 40
to minus 70 over the course of a couple of months
so you've got the housing numbers you know there's
a series of three numbers here the um
I'm not getting excited about those.
Once again, it has to be really distorted numbers.
So the smartest and easiest,
and this is where you get a feel for things
because out of the, say, the four of us, right,
we may have a different experience with Sterling.
And this is where you can come into your AI performance cage, right,
not just a gimmick, actually come in here and have a look
at the data around Sterling.
like do i suck at sterling
and i'll be and this this accounting in particular uh it tells me i do
sterling kiwi i'm like holy ---- right well you know what sterling kiwi
is off my radar right
that's this is what i'm sort of doing with a lot of the stuff
because you can't see the forest for
the trees most of the time with your account right
the um what else can i see holy ---- balls
euro kiwi i'm like hey that's cool except it's
not sterling the um so that's what i'm sort of
saying is have a look at your stats see where
you're doing okay see where you're not doing so
good and i am serious i would look at like we may have it have
to be an exceptional setup for me to
get involved in sterling kiwi
because i just haven't been doing well in it and it makes sense
to stay away from it.
So what you can do by following the theme of the week, you can take
out all the noise in the market and you're like, okay, this is good.
So when I look for news,
I'm looking for sterling news.
And you can come over here to the regional stuff and come down to
the UK and just go, give me the UK juice, right?
Housing market showing signs of mortgage rates
impact? Just get a feel for what's happening, right?
If you're not sure about what's happening,
well, you know that the interest rate tracker already factors all
of that in, right? So that's
where we are with that.
So this is, to me, this is a very organized week.
In actual fact, I know
there's, say, seven majors, right?
But imagine if we had each week, like we had a month that went
for seven weeks, and we had the same layout
of data for each country each week. Each day was a
and it's like going to the races.
It's like, okay, I've got unemployment figures, CPI,
retail sales, everything I need to know how that UK economy is going.
So this is what I'm looking
for, and this is what I look for in the course of a week.
We get an outcome here on Sterling.
If there are some opportunities in Sterling,
because this could give us very clear direction
on sterling straight away, particularly if it's weak, right?
Because you know what?
Let me just check the date of that.
November the 5th, right?
That's like, what, 15, 16 days.
So that's good.
That's good to know, right?
Because 16 days is an eternity in this market.
So if we got weaker employment numbers and they were backed up
by weaker CPI, which could happen,
we're seeing these numbers bounce around,
that's when we can actually start to really go,
hang on, we've got to join the dots here
because if this lines up weak, right,
it goes against the general sentiment on rates,
then you can come in, like really come in
with a bit more focus and go, well,
if these CPI numbers now, particularly these two,
are weaker, that changes the picture on rates somewhat.
Then you come down, you get a follow
through with the next couple of numbers,
and then it's on for young and old. Sterling will be
unwinding. If the employment numbers are neutral,
which more often than not can happen, and this
number here is pretty neutral, the week sucks.
Neutral numbers are not good for us. In normal
trending markets. They are because it just means the trend continues,
but there's no sort of trend
at the moment. We're looking to get into it.
And that's what these numbers can do for us is give us
the trend to follow and get it early, right?
What I mean by get it early is, well, the market thinks
they're raising rates, which is most likely the scenario.
So we get weaker employment numbers,
like really sort of weak, that might go down to 85, 80%.
We get weak CPI numbers. It's probably,
it's going to be a line ball decision on the rate hike
and that is an event all right and that's so
this is how you sort of piece it together
so tie tie together the news okay get uh tie together the
charts right there's
and as i said there's no need to go looking around for what's happening
on the swiss or what's happening on the cad now
no no those things will keep doing what they're
doing so keep an eye on the technical side
of things like anyone know why oil keeps going up
at the moment i don't know
because he bought a whole heap out of russia as well that's right
it's weird right there's uh
but there's like the conspiracy theory stuff at the moment is
off the charts they're trying one of the big things
is they're like they're trying to elevate
oil and keep oil elevated
so everyone goes into electric electrical cars and everything else
to change the dynamics of the car industry globally.
I'm like, yeah, right, okay.
That's great, you know.
Imagine coming up with that sort of discussion down your local pub.
You'd be like shoot out of the joint pretty quick.
So that's it, guys.
That's the theme.
That's my theme, okay.
Now, one thing I would sort of suggest, right,
you guys need to sort of start to adopt this sort of structure because,
Because as I was saying there with the AI performance coach
looking at various stats, if there's an opportunity this week
where you actually do really good and it might be a cross
or it could be something else, you keep that up your sleeve
because there are some events here.
I can just get that calendar to load.
Like these Swissie numbers, not important.
Let me just come back up the top here and get the medium to high.
So if you're looking through, as I said, the ZEW numbers, yep,
the ZEW surveys are something people look at,
but it's not like, you know,
employment or CPI or anything like that.
We've got to just keep an eye on if you do have a Euro position,
Lane speaking, Bailey speaking there on one of those days.
What else have we got?
Oh, actually, this is definitely worth a boat peep, right?
And it's right in our wheelhouse, Kiwi Consumer Price Index, right?
These inflation numbers.
Now, the Kiwi, there's about three numbers
that come out in New Zealand.
But that's it.
Very tiny economy and very low liquidity.
But this is the one.
So on Thursday, this is like a one-off shot.
Now, if we have clear UK data from Tuesday,
Wednesday numbers
and you're coming into looking at what's going on here,
so if we have clear sterling direction and that lines up with obviously
an opposing Kiwi direction, sterling Kiwi could actually be
our best moving instrument, right?
Have a look at the charts on that one, Brad.
Have a look at the charts on that one if it goes the right way.
you've had three bashes on the head.
So if it's got the numbers to come down, it's a good one.
Yeah.
Well, that's right.
Sterling Kiwi could go a long way, right?
And so that's what I'm saying.
Like don't just – I'm focusing on the overall theme for the week,
which is Sterling, but there are a couple of little diamonds
in the rough here.
This is – what I want you to understand, this is aggressive.
This is an aggressive bastard that – it's like the All Blacks,
the rugby team.
They will run you over and leave you for dead.
I played against the All Blacks when I was about 23, 24,
still having nightmares, still having nightmares.
Jesus.
Another good chart is the EURGBP.
If the numbers go the right way, you've got 200-odd pips there
to chase down.
Okay.
Now we're going to call that Euro sterling.
I get confused.
For the last year, I'm still a lot confused.
That's all right.
We'll slowly bring that in because, like, I've got to slow down.
It's like, I've got to go, hang on a second, E-U-R-G-B-P.
Oh, Euro sterling.
Like, it's just more the lingo in the dealing rooms.
But, yeah, you're right.
The Euro sterling would be a big one, right?
We get…
You've got two backing each other up if they go the right way.
Yeah, well, that's right.
And so that's a good one, right?
So what it does is when you've got a theme, it takes the pressure off
because you're like, I don't need to run at the market.
The market's going to come to me.
And like Kevin's doing there,
you've got to identify one or two key pairs there
that are really standouts.
And then when you've got those next to you,
then you look at the numbers
because now it takes shape, right?
There's one more thing that you said to us a few weeks back, Brad,
that's been an absolute cracker,
and that is the month is just a big fat week.
Yeah.
And I said it before, you know, it's all about planning
the whole month out really because you can, when you look
at the whole month, it does what you say.
You know, one thing leads to another thing.
It's like it ends up with a big picture.
And only if the numbers go your way shall you get a trade.
If not, you're not going to get one and just forget about it.
It's pretty much, last week was a good example of this.
I wanted to ask you this question.
The Aussie numbers caught me out a bit and I was not in a fit state
of mind to trade last week, so I didn't.
But it was very funny
It was like the numbers on the Aussie
The Aussie was already off and galloping
Well before the numbers come out
I don't know why
And I'd like to get your opinion on
What was that
Or is it just the luck of the draw
No, it's one of two things
The market could be
Especially during running into numbers
The market can actually be caught
Can be caught out
What I mean by that is
so for instance uh it's sort of going down here
um if there's numbers coming out and the market's
long in the lead up to the numbers it'll start moving very quickly
as people try and get out
of positions late and it can really snowball over
the course of a number of hours i call it a squeeze
it's like like a long squeeze to the downside short squeeze
to the top side the other thing is
there could be a leak that and don't underestimate
it there's you go back to sterling about eight
years ago for a year close to a year the uk numbers
were moving a cent before the numbers
like a full cent and then and they were always correct
so what and they knew the leak was coming
out of the bank of england so they couldn't work out
who it was so they started they started using
five different variables of the number
so they could try and work out who was okay like they
were targeting employees and giving them numbers like
who had access to the numbers and then um
and then there was a couple
of big moves where it went down like 100 points and the number was
completely opposite right and it happened twice
and then it didn't happen again so they either
they kept it quiet on who they locked up
but also that the the they've always say it's the Russians
The money that was involved there
They would have got so hammered
Because they would just let like it
To move a currency a full cent
They're probably trading over a yard
A couple of yards of sterling
A couple of billion right
Now we're trading say five lots
They're trading like 50,000 lots
You know it's something crazy
Anyway so that's what like leaks
Just coming back to that conversation about the Aussie again
I heard a couple of things from you
I mean I thought a leak as well
I mean, that can happen.
It happens everywhere, I guess.
But would you say in your whole experience,
because I was tempted to get in at the early
stage there, but then it was like running up
and down like a jackass for a long time.
You know, the candles are whipping up and down.
I'm thinking, oh, my God, is this just something
that's going to literally backfire and go
the other way?
Yeah.
So have you ever seen it?
I mean, obviously, you have seen it backfire.
You just told us and go the other way.
It can happen, like it can really happen,
a leak that sends this thing off.
I mean, it went such a long way before the news came out.
It was like, what's this?
Yeah, they sent them out about, say, you know, it can be 15 minutes,
it can be half an hour.
I remember one time when we were at, when I was at the CBA,
we got an email from the Bureau of Stats,
like a moratorium quarantine number,
and I was talking to the guy next to me, and we're like,
what the **** is this?
like what is this like why have we like what's going
on but you think it's a stitch up right
and the numbers we didn't do anything
because this we're like this is mad the numbers were
exactly the same and we're like oh
and they were like mad big move and i'm like oh my god like
you think oh my god we could have made loads of money
or we could have just got absolutely hammered
the um and we never never got that again
but there's there are leaks there are leaks
in different numbers.
If you go back a bunch of years ago.
The general consensus is don't trust it.
Don't trust it.
And traders will sit there.
You can say, this is the number.
And they'll go, yeah, that's great, mate.
I'll wait till the number comes out, thanks.
Because do you remember that guy that was trading with Pepperstone?
The two guys went to school together.
One of them worked at the Bureau of Stats.
And he made like 20 mil over the course of like six months.
um and one of the sales guys at Pepperstone put him
into the um he's in jail now but uh yeah so
and i'll tell you another another one this is like
a legitimate one probably back in the late
90s just when tech started first coming out they noticed
on the u.s non-farm payrolls and the way
they used to present the numbers they
do it much better now um when they used to present the
numbers they would get
so you could have a representative from your bank you go to this
place in New York where they have the stats being released
a guy would come out right and everyone
would have their like your phones ready
and they with a big brick you know because it was like
mid to late 90s um they would throw the numbers up
and then you would have to you would call the
bank at the same time Reuters or Thomson Reuters
or whoever else was on there were trying to like
write the numbers up the numbers were quite often misprinted
but then the guys whoever had the best
tech would call their guys
and go the numbers are good start buying right this is like chaotic so
now what they do is they get Thomson Reuters
and Bloomberg they type it they give them the numbers
say 10 minutes before they type their numbers
into their news systems and they sit there and
then they tell them you can hit it
when it hits exactly zero and then that's when the numbers
come out so there's no mistakes in the print anymore
but what they had is they locked up a
guy in New York in in the middle of from that going
from chaotic to a bit more regulated um
the numbers there was a big move on the U.S. non-farm payrolls like
because they used to give
them like say 10 or 15 seconds before the number
so they could get organized they had a guy uh who
had a device in his shoe that was tapping
the numbers out like on a Morse code and then
the banks were moving it, right?
So they did it and they had everyone,
so they were stripping them down with stuff, found
his shoe with an electronic device and locked him up.
It's like, it's been going on forever.
Can you come back to the Euro GBP chart?
And you were just mentioning before about the barroom brawl there.
Yep.
Would you say that that's what's going on right now at that trend line?
On Euro sterling, hourly or daily?
Hourly.
Sorry, daily, I beg your pardon.
I'll tell you one more story about that stuff.
It's actually quite hilarious.
Yeah, well, it's been doing it, right?
It is.
It does it over days.
Like, they can go on for days.
It's not just, like, hours.
Like, you know, it can go on for days, the barroom brawl.
yeah and especially if data's coming up they will sit there
and it'll be a bit of a battle
just to keep it in the spot yeah
because no one really knows right i'll tell you physically people
selling and buying like in that circumstance like
that's what it is yeah like you sit there and you
go you know what i'm going to get long
and then two hours later it hasn't moved much you're like
i'm out and then someone else goes long
and it's just just transactions yeah um
I mean, it's actually sitting on the support area there too.
I'll tell you one last funny one.
We used to try and – so I started in 1990, right?
It was a bit crazy back then.
We used to take turns of calling the Bureau of Stats,
especially on Aussie numbers, and I got the number one day, right,
and the whole dealing room's in there going,
God, give it a crack.
So you get the numbers, employment numbers are coming out
in about five minutes.
And so I call the number, you go through about three people,
well, can I speak to someone in the Bureau of Stats?
And sometimes they go, no, you can't speak to anyone.
But you might get someone that's good and they're like,
hi, I'm just at university.
I'm doing my thesis on the economy.
Mother's in hospital.
I've got to get down to the hospital and I haven't got time.
Can you give me the numbers?
It's the last piece of the information and then I can lodge it.
And you'll find some sweetheart goes, okay, okay,
these are the numbers.
And you hang up and you go, oh, my God, we've got the numbers.
and then um that's that's what was happening right
so it's ******* crazy the hey can i just
ask you about the uh the aussie
so how much credence do we give the china numbers because
their q3 um numbers came out yesterday it
was a little bit stronger than what was forecasting
the forecast was a good question the and we we struggled
with this when china first came back
online with data because we're like these numbers
are bullshit the um but what you can't do is the
same as what we're talking about with kevin there before you get
the numbers early the numbers that
come out are in our for us are factual right what we used
to find is that all the chinese banks
before the numbers would buy aussie
and everything like 10 minutes before and you're like this thing's
up 30 points and you're like the damn chinese
and like in the brokers at the banks you get if i'm
selling they'll go it's uh hang seng hong kong it's uh bank of china
and you're like what the
**** is all the chinese are buying here
and sure as ---- the numbers would come out strong and then
they would all sell they'd take profit
so once that sort of was how they were doing it initially
now it's not as sort of prominent
but you just got to take it with a bit of a grain of salt
and and actually this is a really good question in actual fact because
Well, there was an opportunity for the Aussie US, right?
Because with that stronger number, I would have thought, you know,
in China, I would have thought maybe the Aussie would have had a bounce
with the US dollar just coming off a little bit.
And if you have a look at the hourly on the Aussie US,
we are above the bull bear pivot line,
and it is coming down into the oversold.
Same on the Kiwi as well.
But when you look at the daily on Metastock,
We are below the daily bull bear pivot line.
So a little bit, not sort of any confluence there,
but I just thought there might have been an opportunity
for a little bit of a bounce on the hourly with that sort
of stronger number coming out of China, if it's relevant,
and especially with the US dollar coming up a little bit as well.
Yeah, no, two things.
You're right.
We are in a position at the moment where Euro not so much,
where we're getting some instruments coming back to being changing
changing the overall trend direction
so that's the one thing about this week i sort of mentioned
it yesterday in the video was like we're sort
of in between where are these things really going
it's like we broke down strong dollar
these things could potentially start going up we will get
confluence then now coming back
to your first one it's actually spot on um jace was looking at
something yesterday and me as well
on the aussie mondays i rarely trade anyway but aussie was
coming up here to like a sell and there was a signal right
but just to let you know that it's
in the right zone i'm like well there's numbers coming out here out
of china i'm not going to get
into that even though it's monday um the numbers were slightly stronger
and you're like okay you
can what what i would take as i was saying you can take uh take
the chinese numbers with a grain
of salt but when the good thing is we don't have
to trade to see what's going on right this is a
bit of a sell. It's right there. We've got Chinese numbers.
The Chinese numbers are impacting the
Aussie positively because they are positive numbers.
So you're like, okay, good. Chinese
numbers are working with the market.
So that's what I would do. I wouldn't rush in because I've
got resistance here and it is Monday. I'll wait and see.
But now you're starting to build some
sort of trade logic there around these numbers.
Now on that as well, following this, we've got
UK employment today, right, what
is it, how does Aussie correlate with sterling? Good, positive
positive same way, right? So, so I'm saying sterling numbers like
for trade sterling crosses would be
you know you probably sell uh sterling right
because it's the interest rates factored in
Aussie and sterling correlate, this is against the dollar
so if sterling numbers come out strong
Aussie will benefit from a lower US dollar
because if they're buying sterling against the dollar
that's a dollar sell-off against everything, right?
So that would give me the, if it was oversold and coming up
and we got strong sterling numbers, well,
then I might just buy Aussie instead, right?
Right.
Okay.
We're starting to really branch out into using your correlations.
But so-
Yeah.
Is that that correlation thing you were doing last Thursday?
Is that what you mean?
Yeah, that's it.
So like use the correlation.
So sometimes trading the main instrument can be too hard.
Like say the data's in sterling and it's really strong
and there's no – say there was no resistance lines,
you'd be buying potentially euro, Aussie, and Kiwi.
Just because sterling's going up,
that means the dollar's going down, right?
Okay?
Yeah.
Okay, so if it – and always think of that too.
So if sterling – like if one of these instruments is going up, right,
sterling is going through the roof, they're selling US dollars.
That US dollar selling part will impact all these other ones,
so they will go up as well, right?
They won't go up as fast as sterling, but they will still go up
because they correlate.
Yeah.
All right, that's a pretty good session, guys.
Are you using 70 or the 100 on the bull bear?
There was some change back a little while ago.
No, so on the dailies, I use 100 at the moment.
70 for alleys, 100 for dailies.
I was going to ask that too
because I noticed the game
changer I think, were they using
200? I might
have updated you, so what we
found, just to give you a bit more
context around that Jase, was
the way the market's dynamically
shifting, especially with Trump's
what he does in the market
which is complete disruption
to try and catch the move
a bit quicker than we otherwise usually
would, say for instance we went
back to Biden I'd have this at 200
and it'd be just nice cruisy trends we would be having none
of this stuff so that's where it
is at the at the moment good good point okay um but another
question if i may um it's the more you talk about all these steps
and stuff i mean you could well
do with just simply going with some form of a one two three four just
and then you know on your
computer and just you're just repeating repeat repeat there
are some things that you're saying
if this is do this yeah does that make sense like yeah uh
if you put that together in a spreadsheet
mechanism so that we we followed that along
because there is so much to consider it takes a
long time to get all this in your head
and then sure as hell you'll forget it well the one thing
is it's it's the hardest part about all of this right
because this is the same structure as i said
each month it's understanding what the the backdrop
of the market is right central banks can be
different the uh framework the the move
on the the bonds could be like it's not a it's not a
like for like it's a similar for similar
but it can be done we used to do this stuff if this do
this if this do this well yeah yeah join
the dots yeah it's what you did with your your news here
right it's the same thing
but you just do it you you've got a another one which is what you're
doing you're doing you're doing these step things all
the time go here do this do that whatever and
then you say oh if this was this like
if this goes down we're going to do this you know that
sort of approach is what i'm saying
and make it far easier to follow the steps along rather than
i did it with another company the other day
on the on my uh liquidity pool thing and we did a
step-by-step thing and the bloke said oh
my god i should do this years ago which is like
because you can put your mind at rest as far as what's next
because that's, you know, like it's a step thing
and you put your mind to work in terms of, you know,
the important stuff, you know, that makes all those.
So that's a bit of feedback I can give you.
Your stepping through is almost identical every time
in your approach and I think you can get it
as a step, step, step thing with a one, two, three, four.
It would help a hell of a lot overall.
But the other question I had was Thursday,
are you going to do something on that new thing that you did?
Because I was looking at studying that yesterday,
but I didn't quite get the gist of it all.
Oh, yeah, yeah, that's a good point, the Forex Trend Guide.
Yeah, yeah, good idea.
Good idea, Kev.
There's probably two things.
Do you all have that?
Oh, yeah, we do.
Yeah, we do.
Okay.
Sorry.
Yeah, this is, yeah, I'll run you through that
because it'll tell you – this is like a daily thing, right?
So you can see exactly what the best
printing instruments are right now.
I'm not going to go through it right now, but the – it's –
I can tell you the backdrop, right?
I don't mind the GGs, right?
And I'm looking at a lot of stuff
about analysis on racehorsing, racing,
and I'm like, it's no different to the market around different areas
of where – what's strong, what's not, all these different things.
So you can actually, anyway, that's where I built a matrix
and it gives you the best trending instruments.
Currency.
Is it sort of like the strength and weakness mechanism?
Like there are some indicators of strength and weakness?
Yeah, definitely.
So, yeah, yeah.
So the, so CAD, anyway, I'll explain it.
That's a good one.
I'll do that first though
because what you can actually do is this will set
you up for identifying longer-term trading opportunities
on the daily charts.
This is, you know, we've got our live market analysis
and signals and stuff.
That's all for the current market.
But this is actually sort of a bit longer term,
so you can sort of start to see where things are lining up.
Yeah.
Would you say that this is sort of mapped into a month
or like, you know, have the whole week into a month thing?
Is this sort of in that fashion
or is it more like just a running linear?
Pure stats, pure strength and weakness as opposed to it's hard.
You can't factor in, well, I could have different scenarios
for different data you're talking about
a massive system that's just what calculates you hit a
button that says what about if these numbers
were weak what are we doing right the best scenario
i've got for that so far is having a look
at and going well if this is stronger what's going to
happen right so what i was really interested
in this and i did poke it through and have a good
old yap to ChatGPT and stuff
and it was interesting what that came out with but you can
upload this stuff and and have it like i spoke about last week
and it's it's it just helps you
a lot that's all i'm trying to get out here like
if it wasn't for the ai stuff my learning would
be so far behind because i don't learn
by you know listening to ---- i've literally got to
discuss it and go over and over it before it hangs in there
and it's anyway it's just a damn good
thing to you can cut and paste it in there
and have it yep back to you and anyway enough for me
but if it wasn't for ChatGPT or even I'm on Claude now
is my favourite one, but, you know, you can just talk to it
and there's all sorts of things.
You don't have to believe everything it says, but, by God,
you can get it to spell out different things to you,
look at charts and rah, rah, rah.
Claude's a lot smarter than ChatGPT.
A hundred percent.
The three-hour course I did, I've given it to a bunch of blokes now
and the best thing, three hours and you can set this thing up
and every time it says, oh, you want me to apply it to your ACT thing,
ACT it's called and it's just bloody brilliant you know
and so simple it just helps you it's
like having this buddy beside you talking
to you you know you can make it a sweet talking Sheila
if you want that makes you feel better um yeah no that's good
and it's good to like bring
bring in the tech right that's like it's good
as i said for analysis research all those sort of
things it's good the um good session mate makes it nice
and clear keep going over the same ----
because that's the thing it's
the same ---- every day just make it new again next week make it new
next day you know same thing same ---- different day
but with a different maybe a different picture
behind it so so that's what we're doing guys
and it is it's not like like this this is this is
advanced trading it's not rocket science you look
at where the danger is you see where opportunities
are and you're going okay i can map these three things together
and then i got a great number you
don't even have to like seriously you don't even have
to trade trade this one you might go you know
what i'm watching this see where the lead is in sterling
and the real that'll give me the real big
go at the CPI all those things
but that no it's good i like i like uh you got good questions kev
and steven jace you're coming along good
this takes a while it takes a while to get it all
together well it does and this is the hard part right
because everyone learns differently
different style structure speed right
but what i can tell you is learning the ins and outs of how
this works does just takes time
and repetition yeah i like what you did this morning too brad
with um evaluating the market even
though i hadn't done any research it'd be good to have a crack at
that in the future uh oh you mean like technically
i just like how you you were asking us all to like
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, that would be helpful in the future too.
I just hadn't done any research, but it would be good to crack at that.
Well, that's actually a fair point because the times it's Kevin
and Stephen have done it, I've given them a heads up the week before.
So we'll give you the heads up for next week, Jason.
It's better when you spring it on them.
Well, then you don't have time to freak out because then all I want you
to do is tell me what you can see.
That's it.
Give it a crack next week
You can't do any harm
We'll help you out
See you Thursday
Catch you Thursday
Cheers
