Ozempic might help—but what if the ingredients come from a Chinese factory where FDA inspectors found black mold, bugs, and workers allegedly dumping samples and hiding paperwork? Nothing says “quality control” quite like a pharmaceutical factory behaving like a crime scene. Meanwhile, untested Chinese peptides are popping up online. Because apparently, getting skinny shouldn’t be the only gamble you take with your health.

There's a whole new reason to stay away
from GLP-1 weight loss medicine.
It has to do with China.
Welcome to China Uncensored, I'm Chris Chappell.
Let's talk about the thing almost every
American celebrity seems to love.
I'm talking about GLP-1.
It's in Ozempic, Mounjaro, and other meds like them.
It's the quickest way to lose weight
that doesn't involve receiving sympathy cards.
It's getting more popular among Americans, especially women.
And it's not just because of increases in type 2 diabetes.
Or type 3 diabetes, which I assume Chris Christie is patient zero of.
Drink it in. This is what peak political performance looks like.
People take them to get thinner, without the hassle of working out.
Or having good genes.
Just pausing here
because I've been told this is good for our engagement.
That's just one problem.
Ok, two problems. I hate needles.
But the other one is Americans are getting their GLP-1s from…
China.
As with anything that gets popular,
Chinese companies are rushing into the weight loss drug craze.
Which is probably the first time in history
communists tried to help people get skinny through drugs,
rather than, you know, starvation.
After the FDA announced a global shortage of GLP-1s in 2022,
the number of Chinese manufacturers marketing components
for GLP-1s shot up drastically.
That's a man-made disaster waiting to happen.
Which China has experience with.
The thing is, China isn't exactly known for its quality control.
The Chinese Communist Party is all about shortcuts, corruption,
and disregard for human life.
Which is why you get things like
the infamous 2008 tainted milk powder scandal
that killed 6 babies and sickened 300,000.
100,000.
Tainted blood thinners that killed Americans.
The 2025 kindergarten lead poisoning scandal
that sickened more than 200 children.
Which Chinese officials helped cover up.
And there's so much more.
During Covid, we saw China at best produce subpar medicine,
and at worst create fake
medicines.
So it's not exactly surprising that,
according to a recent Bloomberg report, US inspectors
at the Food and Drug Administration visiting China
found black mold and bugs at a Chinese plant
that makes GLP-1 compounding agents.
That'll definitely help with weight loss,
because after hearing that I've lost my appetite.
The plant in question belongs to
Chengdu Shengnuo Biopharm Co.,
a subsidiary of Chengdu Shengnuo Biotech Co.
But it's worse than just that,
because when FDA inspectors arrived
at the Chengdu Shengnuo plant,
they caught quality control staff
running with documents from their lab
to a room across the hall where they stuffed
the papers into lockers.
The inspectors weren't able to recover all the documents,
but I'm sure it's fine.
Innocent people always hastily and sweatily destroy evidence all the
time. They also saw personnel pouring product samples
into sinks in a seemingly coordinated
effort. You know their product is totally safe
when they're disposing of it, like drug dealers
do to crack during a SWAT raid.
That wasn't the only plant with problems.
In another plant belonging to Nanjing Chenggong Pharmaceutical Co.,
inspectors discovered
that workers had been buying active ingredients made by other factories
and slapping Nanjing
Chenggong's seal of approval on them.
And Nanjing Chenggong's staff didn't even bother
to review those other factories'
testing information to confirm that their products were safe.
Here's the worst part.
We're lucky we have even this information.
The US technically requires drug
and active ingredient makers to test samples and hold
on to supporting documentation.
But historically, the FDA has regularly outsourced its oversight
and investigation duties to
China, or neglected inspections altogether.
It has even allowed China to dictate the terms
and conditions for inspections, by providing
advance notice and relied on the Chinese
to faithfully translate for US officials.
Fortunately things have been changing in the right direction.
In 2025, the FDA announced it
was expanding unannounced inspections abroad, and raising
the bar for foreign site inspections.
Both of which would explain all the people
seen shoving papers into lockers and pouring
product down the sinks.
In response to its horrific findings,
the FDA has put the two Chinese companies I mentioned
on an import alert list,
which allows them to stop future shipments without tests.
But the FDA needs to watch out
for far more than just those two companies.
There's a huge industry for black market peptides.
With Chinese fingerprints all over them.
And given their health and safety standards,
I assume those fingerprints are unwashed,
sticky, and smell something awful.
In fact, Chinese companies are openly advertising black market peptides
that promise weight loss, tissue repair,
and tanning at a fraction of the price of name brand GLP-1s.
No wonder Canada loves China so much all of a sudden.
Justin Trudeau now has a cheaper way to do his Halloween tanning.
And to get skinny girlfriends
that look like they have a picture hidden somewhere,
keeping them immortal.
These black market peptides can be found on Chinese apps like Temu.
And they are not FDA approved or tested in any way.
Some of them are even labeled
for research purposes only to dodge lawsuits.
At this point, I think the responsible thing
for doctors to do is advise patients,
just be fat my guy, it's healthier.
And working wonders for Chris Christie.
Many counterfeit peptides
are already being linked to severe health issues,
like acute liver damage. Or cancer.
Which I guess technically helps people lose weight.
What insurance is covering this stuff? A monkey's paw?
Which I assume is an HMO.
Heck, even Chinese makers of fentanyl ingredients
are getting in on the bootleg peptide industry.
Great, now you can be skinny and a zombie.
Happy Halloween!
So it's probably a good idea to not get your weight loss drugs on Timu.
Do I really need to say that?
But even some pharmacies are selling compounded copies
of name brand GLP-1s containing Chinese ingredients
from who knows where.
And as for the name brands like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro,
Well, we just don't know where their ingredients come from.
The US has a big problem with drug supply chain exposure to China.
The CCP could turn that spigot off like that should a war break out.
And let me remind you, they already see themselves
as being at war with the US.
So really, we're already in a place where American pharma companies
are putting US citizens
at risk by depending on China to produce medicine.
An FDA veteran reacted to the mold
and bug story by saying the inspection findings suggest
Just a serious accident waiting to happen.
But hey, it's all worth it to look like
a night demon sucked out your soul while you
were sleeping.
That's what China Uncensored is all about.
Not sucking out your souls,
reminding people not to rely too much on China.
