10 years into zero waste living… these are the zero wast swaps I still do and have impacted my life for the better.
We all know the trash jar didn’t last, but some habits absolutely did. In this video, I’m sharing the zero waste habits that still make sense in 2026 - the ones that actually held up in real life through busy seasons, burnout, moving, holidays, and everything else in between.
When I first started living zero waste in 2015, I focused heavily on packaging and the Pinterest-perfect pantry. A decade later, my approach looks very different. Instead focusing on things that, yes, reduce waste, but also the tthings that save money and genuinely improve my quality of life.
We’re talking about:
Why buying less (and using a 30-day rule) still works
How shopping secondhand first quietly beats most trendy eco products
How “capsule thinking” for things like makeup and cleaning prevents overconsumption
Why repair and maintenance might be the most underrated sustainable habit
I also share how my grocery habits have evolved and how you don't need access to a package-free store to reduce waste in a meaningful way.
And then there are the zero waste swaps that truly changed my daily life: switching to a safety razor, breaking up with my Keurig, and wearing period underwear that’s genuinely more comfortable. These aren’t about suffering for the planet, they’re actually quality-of-life upgrades that also happen to reduce waste.
And we wrap up with the biggest lesson of all: zero waste isn’t about fitting trash in a jar. It’s about stepping off the consumer hamster wheel so you can save money, be more present, and spend your time on the things that actually matter!
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by zero waste tips, wondered which eco swaps are actually worth it, or questioned whether the movement still makes sense - this is my 10-year audit and check out my time stamps below.
