I Will Certainly Consider That' — Crockett CORNERS Van Drew Over Trump's $5,000 Offer

Trump promised $5,000 if Republicans win Congress. Jasmine Crockett asked chair Jeff Van Drew for a hearing. His answer: 'I will certainly consider that.'

At a September 15, 2026 House Judiciary subcommittee hearing on noncitizens who voted in New Jersey after a state software error, ranking member Jasmine Crockett asked chairman Jeff Van Drew to go on record about holding a hearing on Trump's $5,000 offer. He answered, 'I will certainly consider that,' and described the payment as returning 'the people's taxpayer dollars.'

The video checks Trump's own words from Dallas: the payment comes 'if the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate.' It weighs tariff revenue against the roughly $1.2 trillion cost, looks at who has to pay for it, and notes an election-law expert's view that this is likely not a crime. My read: the hearing picks which election threats count.
