Just a week after the US President
Donald Trump picked her for the post,
US media are reporting that Katie Zachariah is already on her way out.
She came under immediate scrutiny as White House press secretary
when she appeared uncomfortable
during her inaugural briefing on Tuesday,
and was criticized for calling herself a lawyer
when appearing as a commentator prior to this new role.
She hasn't passed a bar exam
and doesn't have the credentials to practice.
Speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News on Wednesday,
she defended her first appearance as Trump's press secretary.
I really stepped up and to the plate to do the press conference,
Sean, with very little prep time.
I received briefing materials in the morning of Tuesday
and I went to deliver all of the great results
that President Trump is delivering for the American people.
You would like to have known that Katie Zachariah didn't catch a bar.
Trump said he had asked Zachariah
to reconsider being his press secretary.
She's been treated, I would say, pretty nastily.
And I said to Katie just two minutes ago, I said, Katie,
you know, you don't have to do this if you don't want to.
She said, this is a lot tougher. I said, welcome to the world of Trump.
Do you have anybody else on your list for potential press secretary?
A lot of people want the job.
Zachariah was a surprise choice
when Trump announced her appointment on the 9th of October
as the successor to Caroline Leavitt,
the youngest ever White House press secretary.
Prior to events now, Zachariah had been working for Trump Media,
the company that oversees
the president's social media site, Truth Social.
