It's hard to stop.
I was a lot younger then,
20 years ago, and it
just got to be a habit
over the years. We kept doing it and doing it,
and 20 years later, here we are.
No, we didn't start out together at all.
I guess at the first race 20 years ago, everybody was a streaker
in that everybody had run every race, even though it was one.
Over the years, I think 10 years ago,
they gave us our personal numbers,
so that was 12.
So 10 years ago, there was 12 streakers, and now there's eight.
I'm feeling very privileged to be here 20 years later
and very happy to say that I'm going to do one more
and this is going to be a big one, for sure.
It'll be a big milestone, a big achievement
that we'll be very proud of in our 60s.
The streakers, like I say, we're all, as you've figured out, seniors,
except the youngest guy might be around 55,
but it's good to see our age group, too,
participating in these races and keeping it going.
I was a heavy smoker for many years.
I quit smoking at around age 47 and started running then, only
to find out that running is way more addictive than smoking ever was.
So it was a bit more of a challenge. I was ramping up the amount
of running I was doing and eventually made it up to marathons, right?
So it was a good feeling to get it done.
It will be quite an accomplishment for a small number of us,
so I'd say we're in a little bit of a different group.
Certainly not fast runners, but determined and stubborn.
That I'd probably describe as the best.
Right now, I'd say the 20th, every race is your last one,
so hopefully we'll get the 20th done and we'll look
at it next year when the time comes.
