Right now at nine, the Santa Ana winds fueling
devastating wildfires burning in Southern
California. Aerial video shows the Norte fire in Orange County.
At least six homes there burnt to
the ground today. That fire started this afternoon.
Already it's burned more than 570 acres near San
Juan Capistrano and San Clemente.
Two firefighters injured battling those flames, both taken to the
hospital. And just in the past few hours, we heard from officials.
Despite our aggressive attack
from land and the air. The wind was relentless.
Six homes were impacted. Our hearts go out to
those homeowners, and we are grateful no one
in those neighborhoods were hurt. We do have two
injured firefighters, and they have
been transported to a local hospital for treatment.
We currently have approximately 400 firefighters on this fire,
with an additional 400 firefighters
en route. 16,000 people are under a mandatory evacuation order tonight
and we're hearing from
a family as they went back home to grab a few things.
They say their neighbor's house burned
down. How does it feel to look at your house?
I mean it's one of those bittersweets right because
our neighbor's is a total loss and ours is not touched
so it's it's devastating. It's a tough
tough experience how long have you lived there
um eight years eight roughly yeah and how about
your neighbors you know how long they've
been oh 100 years yeah forever they made it to safety
there she did yeah she's yeah she's out
but it's devastating i mean the whole house collapsed on
itself and it's crazy yeah still no containment on it tonight
and to the northwest in malibu the
bryson fire is now nearly 40 percent contained
so far it's burned over 145 acres prompting
evacuations and warnings in the area.
Over 400 firefighters battling those flames. Crews are
also battling those worsening conditions
from the Santa Ana winds with gusts of nearly 70 miles per
hour in some areas in those canyons.
Hundreds of thousands are without power in what officials are
calling a proactive shutdown of electricity.
We'll bring you updates as we learn more about these
fires tonight.
