Nuisance Bear (2026) | Official Trailer | MUBI
The world-famous polar bears of Churchill, Manitoba are seen from an entirely different perspective in Nuisance Bear (2026), an immersive nature documentary from filmmakers Gabriela Osio Vanden and Jack Weisman.
Expanding their acclaimed 2021 short into a feature, the film follows a polar bear as it navigates tourists, wildlife officers, hunters, vehicles, and an increasingly crowded human landscape along its ancient migration route. As climate change delays the freeze on Hudson Bay and pushes bears closer to populated areas, Nuisance Bear asks a difficult question: when a sacred predator is labeled a problem, who really belongs in the shared territory? Guided in part by Inuktitut narration from Mike Tunalaaq Gibbons, the documentary blends striking Arctic imagery with a deeper look at tourism, conservation, Indigenous perspectives, and survival.
