Frank Wright is a 101-year-old World War II Marine veteran who enlisted at just 16 following the attack on Pearl Harbor and went on to serve with the 4th Marine Raider Battalion, one of the Marine Corps' earliest special operations units. In this episode, Wright recounts his training under James Roosevelt, President Franklin D. Roosevelt's son, and his experiences fighting across the Pacific in Guadalcanal, New Georgia, Guam, and Iwo Jima. He details surviving a bayonet attack on Guam, witnessing the historic flag raising on Iwo Jima, and suffering devastating gunshot wounds that nearly cost him his arm. Wright also reflects on the loss of fellow Marines, the brutal realities and moral consequences of war, and the meaning of freedom through the eyes of those he helped liberate. Now 101 years old, he shares his firsthand memories of the Pacific War and the stories he preserved in his book, *Battles in the Pacific*, ensuring the sacrifices of his fellow Marines are never forgotten.
