Hey guys how you doing? Joe and Tripper out in the bush today.
We've decided to come back to the old debris shelter,
the shelter that I started the other day and we did that overnight at.
Well, Tripper and I keep coming back here
because it's just a cool spot to hike to.
Every time I keep coming back here I keep throwing little odds
and ends onto the shelter and I keep saying to myself I gotta stop,
I gotta film. I told these guys I'd film it and show them.
So that's what we're going to do today.
Today's going to be a quick video.
I'm going to finish up this shelter out here.
So on that last video you saw us build the framework of the shelter.
Saw us gather a bunch of materials and stuff
and build half the shelter, camp out in it
at night and that was pretty fun.
Today we're going to finish it off.
You peeing
on my shelter bro?
You peeing on the shelter?
Nice and sunny.
It's homely.
It's
a
good
spot.
Again with the peeing.
Your dog.
Here's a really nice building material piece
but it's got a really big stalk on it and
it would be a lot to try to pull down.
It's kind of hung up so I think I'll just trim off what I need.
need. I use my saw on this one
because it's about wrist thick.
It's half stuck
in the snow most of
them are but it's not too hard to get out.
There you go. Just warming up man.
Doing some work.
Sun's coming out. I'm not going to lay my coat on the ground
because the dog will probably pee on it.
I'm not going to wear my hat.
A little warm but I will wear my glasses now because the sun keeps
coming out and I have protection for my eyes.
We've got a bunch more pieces we have to go get.
It's a beautiful day out here. It's almost Easter.
It's almost Easter guys. Right after I say that
Wind kicks up.
That's all right.
I'm going to try and pull this right down, which will be good.
Topping
it like
that
first
made it
really
easy
to cut
through
without
getting
bound up
in this
weird
situation.
Bounce up
that under
there.
He's sniffing like crazy.
It's
a
success.
What did you find?
Everyone wave hi to my plane.
Wouldn't be a Joe vid.
All right, let's check out vid.
I hate that vid.
Nice vid, man.
Anyway, sorry.
Let's check out the progress so far on the shelter.
I haven't done anything today.
So it's just how we left it with just the exception
of a couple big pine boughs on the back, right?
So we got basically this side to fill in
We'll leave that as the door and then we're done
when we could throw some extra on top after but we'd really just got to
Fill this side in I think what I'm going
to do is start putting these boughs down first
Because if I start putting these big
trees, it's gonna block a lot of this
It's gonna block me getting being able to get close to the framework
So put these on first throw those on top after
and see where we're at Tripper's gonna pee on him he is a pee dog
Weather is changing a lot today from sunny
to cloudy to sunny
to sprinkly, so I do want to go in after and really
fill in the ridge line the ridge pole area because
That'll be where it'll drip through mostly,
but I'm feeling happy about this already
I know you're supposed to start shingling
from the bottom up, but look it
It's not gonna work. Well, I did on the other side.
I guess I could do that here
Chipper back off please I'm just thinking
with throwing all those big pieces on
after it's gonna really help with it
but I guess I can do this still to Tripper
can you not please cuz it's really
not helping a lot for me personally it's
probably doing something for you
but yeah I guess we can do that the proper
way proper watch out oh
this sides gonna be better I
think than the other side I
should get some more bows I
think before I start putting
those on I will I'll go
grab a few more bows it's nice
when you have a bunch of stuff material ready
here to work with you don't have to go put go
and put go and put when it's all
just here kind of just place it
on seems like you're gaining more ground I guess
it's looking good
though already man hell yeah look at that oh yeah I like
the looks that you know what I don't want to put this huge stock on the
shelter anyway so I'll trim up the big
boughs off of this guy and then cut it
down shorter and discard of the stock for now
or put it over here with my pile
of them use
the top and
the bows
so we're
back up
buddy go on
big guy all
right then we'll get rid of it
loving
this axe sheath again one
tree leather check them
out one tree leather on
Instagram okay are you okay
did you get it are you good
Here, here, here. Stop, stop, stop. I'll help you.
Stop. Open your mouth, buddy. Back up.
Tripper, Tripper, stop. I know, I know.
Dude, he had that on the roof. Stop. You're gonna do it
again. Get that stalk. No. Sideways in the roof
of his mouth in between his teeth. He's freaking
out. Buddy, you gotta stop that, okay? Crazy dog.
Okay, those are the boughs that I got to finish
off this top area here, this last area.
After that, we're gonna start throwing the big stalks
on okay okay
got some gaps
but I feel
good about
the amount of
boughs we have
on the other stocks and stuff
so I feel okay about starting to pile it all on now
really look at that look at that it's
not too shabby we still got all that
whole body yeah that's good it'll block some
of the ridge pole too like the
overhang very cool
yeah so I mean once
you start putting
the big pieces on you
of building away from the put as into it
but i have that good framework that good lattice
i'm happy with that
watch out buddy
okay that's a lot
of bows there
that's a whole lot
of bows
it's nice and dark in here
that's good okay i'm gonna put some on the other side too
that's
awesome
guys i'm
super
stoked
on that
look
at that
that
big one
too all
gonna
kind of
mash each other in here too
and hold on pretty good like a little tetris-y puzzle-y jenga jenga
type thing. Jenga fort. Jenga fort.
What'd you do? Some good mud there.
Some good dirt. Some good
wormy dirt trip. Find some worms. We'll go fishing.
pretty good. Like there's some gaps over here at the
bottom, but for the most part, it's pretty solid.
I can even start fixing it up from in here. I got
some boughs on the ground, like still from last time.
A little wet because it's been raining and
stuff, but it's okay. This is comfortable, man.
I like this. I like this a lot. This is the perfect
size for Tripper and I. It's just a cool little hangout.
Just a cool spot to come have a fire.
When we're allowed to have one, there's a fire ban in Ontario, guys.
We got to talk about that
in the next video, I think.
Uno, one piece.
Look at that beast, man.
So this black spot in the
middle, this dark spot in the middle is not see-through.
That's just a dead piece of tree
that I threw on there. Hang it up.
Hang it up. Hang it up. Hang it up.
Go. It's starting to snow
and or rain right now but i'm pretty pleased
guys pretty pretty pleased with this debris hut
and this isn't to say that this is done i can still come
and throw stuff on i like the idea
of throwing dead stuff like this see
this stuff back here it's all punky freaking rotten wood
to hold everything down make
it a little bit more blended
in not so green i like
it i like the idea
of it a lot
of mass
a lot
of weight
a lot of
coverage
can you do
that so you
can see what I did with that debris I
threw some down there I threw some right
at the top again just to give more coverage on top
but like the tripods way
the ridge pulls way down here
and we got stuff way up there blocking so that's
really good that's really good
and we're underneath the pine tree as it is
although it's a sparse pine tree well
that's it man I'm calling that done for
today like that's 90 percent done regardless i go around
and fill a little bit of holes in the bottom and
stuff but that's oops that's for next camp
but just looking at it looks awesome way way happy
with it super impressed way more
so than uh the way it was when i got here so i got a short one
for you this week but i'm gonna shoot another one
while i'm out here before i get headed home
it's chilling
down you have
a good day
