We Needed To Ask About The Surprise Eric Ripert Cameo In The Anthony Bourdain Biopic

I love seeing Erika Henné show up. How did that come about? That was a function of us having a great relationship with the estate and me realizing that we had a role in the film for the person who admits Bourdain into cooking school. I thought, oh, I wonder if this is too cute, like to have a cameo from somebody who not only is in this world but had a relationship with him. And it's so funny. I should have a better canned answer for exactly how that happened. But all I remember is Eric showing up on set. I'm with Dom and he and I go to meet him in his trailer. And I just talked about this, us wondering, okay, are we going to talk about Anthony Bourdain? Are we going to talk about like their time together? And all he wanted to do was get his lines right. And so we sat with him for about an hour and a half just going over the lines because he never acted in anything ever. He'd never been on camera acting. And so he was like, so how does this work? He's a French guy. He speaks English as a second language. And so the focus of all of our time together was let's really make you look good and make you comfortable. And so when you watch that final scene with him, like that is me and Dom, I won't say coaching, but doing everything that the two of us can to get him in that place to give that performance. Yeah, he's a great guy. He's a great guy. Very kind person.
