Ingredients for a 26 cm (10.2 in) diameter springform pan:

3 to 4 pears
150 g (5.3 oz) butter, room temperature
150 g (5.3 oz) sugar for the batter
1 packet vanilla sugar
3 eggs (size M)
230 g (8.1 oz) flour (type 405)
1 tsp baking powder
1 pinch of salt
50 g (1.8 oz) walnuts
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp sugar for the walnuts
Some butter and flour for the pan

Preparation:

1. Peel the pears, remove the cores, and cut the pears into wedges. Roughly chop the walnuts.

2. Beat the butter, 150 g sugar, and vanilla sugar until light and creamy.

3. Add the 3 eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.

4. Mix flour with cinnamon and baking powder, then gradually fold into the butter mixture. Add salt and briefly mix everything to a uniform batter.

5. Line the bottom of the springform pan with baking paper. Grease the sides and dust with flour.

6. Pour the batter into the pan and smooth it out. Arrange the pear wedges in a star pattern on top and gently press them down.

7. Combine the chopped walnuts with 1 tsp sugar and sprinkle them over the top.

8. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (356 °F) for about 30 to 40 minutes. Check with a skewer to see if the cake is done.

9. Let the cake cool and enjoy.
