Sunday Night Soccer Preview presented
by our friend of Continental Tire.
Another great weekend in the MLS, Miami with Messi,
with Suarez winning against the DC United
and another great performance with our guys from St. Louis,
they won 6-2, Calhoun, Atric, Navarro,
two goals and two assists, 18 wins guys in a row,
they're chasing the record of 19. Let's see if they
he can do it but now we're gonna watch
of course Lionel Messi service from the far side Bertrami
ahead to it Suarez a little to pass hitting it first time return
for Lionel Messi his shot saved
by Johnson still a live ball
and there is Luis Suarez second of the night to clean it all up
still a live ball in the 18 Suarez is having
a night ops to play this across and there's the
Third, Lionel Messi with the finish in front.
Messi.
Beautiful move, Lionel Messi off the left foot.
What a goal.
What we have to say, guys, it's...
Not much, man.
Rolling back the years,
Messi-Suarez, one of the most dynamic duos in football history.
Two goals for each.
It's too easy for them, especially Messi.
I mean, that second goal, that was just Messi's magic, as always.
You know, and I spoke to a few defenders
and they say that when the worst strike they had faced
In their entire career
Was Suarez
I think it's because
He's so inventive man
Like even that first goal
That he scores
That's the most
Typical Suarez finish
Where
He almost mishits it
But it's
It's clearly not a mishit
He's meant to hit it like that
But it's so unorthodox
He has such a wide array
Of finishing
He's so crafty
Even at his age
Clearly Suarez
Has lost a bit right
But
There's some instincts
And there's some finishing
That just never leaves you
And I think that's the case
With Luis Suarez
Lucas
Suarez
Because when I spoke
For example
I spoke to
What's his nickname by the way?
Luis Suarez
El Pistolero
When I spoke to Bonucci and I told him, yeah, of course, Harry Kane,
he covers the ball, he defends the ball in a brilliant way.
Nah, he's not great as you would expect.
I agree.
And the top one, and he told me
And same with Phil Jones when he was here.
Honestly, it's so difficult to defend against
a player that you don't know what he's going to do.
You honestly have zero idea what Suarez is going to do at any point.
He could literally the way he was able
to just dribble almost ricochet it through your legs
Like you think you have him and then he
ends up on the other end of the ball
Finishing again. I've seen Suarez have every single finish in the book
So when you have a player that can score at any angle
of either side, he's good with his head, too
He can score chips. He can score volleys
It's it's almost impossible to stop him when he's at his best
and even this version of Suarez like that first finish
I'm sorry. It's a joke man. It's an absolute joke this week guys
We are going to take a trip to Ohio
because there is a great Derby
Cincinnati Columbus Crew is the Ohio battle guys
They are separated by 100 miles on the Interstate 71
and in the middle
You have a billboard sign saying 'Hell is Real'.
I know it's funny. It's funny
The first time they faced each other was 2017. So it's a recent Derby
in fact it was formed nine years ago in the cup
and Cincinnati joined the league in 2019 if I'm
not mistaken so you know this uh this rivalry has
been brewing over the last five six years
and uh yeah naturally like Dan said a lot
of a lot of bragging rights on the line and
you know it's good to see that those derbies
are also being built up to you know large standards
I should say in the MLS like it is in Europe look
at the Cincinnati jersey behind you it's not it's
the main well I quite like it you know I quite like it I'm
not you know orange and blue I'm not
a huge fan of orange kits you don't like it
no it's always always a little tacky
kind of reminds me of the Madrid shirt you know
when they won the UCL against Liverpool in 2022.
I know it wasn't as orangey
but it had the hints of orange, no no, Real Madrid in 2022 when
they won the Champions League against Liverpool
they had blue white and orange on it no i get
you but the orange is like a tip no no it
was small orange yeah yeah no all jokes aside the
Dutch the orange kit is iconic
but most the most orange kits it just doesn't I like hints of orange
on kits yeah yeah that's uh be too heavy
on the orange I prefer the Cincinnati one uh yes what's
the meaning of rivalry in the US
because of course you grew up there I mean we are probably a
different yeah I mean it's definitely not the same as in Europe
because I just think European derbies
for the most part you're talking about stuff
that's been built up over 100 100 years 80 years
right and there's so much deep rooted into it now
of course you have to start somewhere and
the hope for MLS is that these derbies can kind
of last the test of time and they can one day look
at it and say this is an 80 year old derby
but I think for the most part it's impossible to compare
and then you even like look at other sports
for example the derbies that you have like there's no
derby in NBA for example right like there's teams
who are really good to play against each other
they don't like each other but when you compare it
to like Celtic Rangers or Barca Real or Liverpool
united who have so many other things
that contribute to the rivalry these are good but i
i think it's it's a step below yeah i mean it's gonna be a good game
because Cincinnati are 10
and 12 in the league so with the MLS coming uh
to the end they're fighting for a spot in the playoff
now my question for you Luca if i ask you to rank
your top three rivalries in football in football
history rivalry or derby derby um celtic rangers for me is the best
because it stems from religion
So I think that's the deepest it can go.
I know they play each other a lot and things like that,
but I just think in terms of a derby, it's brilliant rivalry.
I think Roma-Lazio is the best derby in Italy.
I think it's better than Derby della Madonnina.
I think it's way more heated
and it probably doesn't get as much respect
it probably should get because Milan and Inter are just bigger clubs.
And then the third one, maybe River Plate Boca
in terms of magnitude and what it means.
I've never been, obviously, I've never really been able to go to that.
hopefully one day
that would be a big
big goal
I think for any football
fan to get to witness
that it seems like
an incredible experience
I've seen videos
and stuff like that
that looks really heated
so I'd probably go
with them three
I think you've got to
throw in Fenerbahce
Galatasaray too
you want Fenerbahce
Galatasaray
I think that's up there
in terms of hatred
in terms of heated
in terms of drama
you look at the flares
in the stadiums
I think that's
certainly up there
Celtic Rangers
I completely agree
it goes deeper
than just football
that's for me
what makes a real derby
right
that's when you really
get hatred
and vitriol
I'm almost positive
like the rival fans
like away fans
aren't even allowed
in the stadium
on the day of the game
because they're worried
about the violence
that can pursue
from that kind of game
and then I do like
Lazio-Roma
I do think Milan-Inter
is more of a
brotherly rivalry
these guys don't hate
each other
it's more like a
sporting rivalry
and neighborhood rivalry
outside of those ones
any other good ones
Madrid-Atletico
was so uncompetitive
for a while
but of late
to be fair
it's been very competitive
between the two teams
in terms of heated ones
you look at like
Millwall-West Ham
they're heated
or like Birmingham
versus
Villa
Arsenal Spurs
hasn't been competitive
for a minute
nah
it's tough to really
point out to many
other ones
even in Germany
right
like the biggest
derby is
Schalke Dortmund
it's coming back
this season
so
it's important
I agree though
Boca River
I think
he obviously said
Celtic Rangers
but I think Boca River
is the greatest
derby there is
because I just think
the significance
of those two clubs
again the hatred
everything about it
I think that's
Every football fan dreams of going to that game
But also every football fan should actually be very careful going
to that game because it can get it can get scary out there
the loudest noise I've ever heard in a football stadium is when
Boca came on on the pitch for the warm-up
at the River Plate Stadium was something
Something really played at the Bernabeu and I wasn't there.
Yeah, but remember that was
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, of course easy
Make sure guys you watch the hell is real derby on Sunday 18 of October
Tokyo TQL stadium. Thanks to our friend of
Continental tie. Thanks to liaise. Thanks to look at see you next week
