This might be the greatest guitar I've ever played

Kim Walker is a legendary luthier of 50+ years and in my opinion, "one of one". I think of his guitars as the apex of modern flat top lutherie, alongside builders such as Ervin Somogyi, Michael Greenfield, Jordon McConnell, Michi Matsuda and Leo Buendia.

Whenever one of his guitars passes through the guitar shop I work at, it is a whole event. Everything stops. He is the mutual favorite luthier of myself and my two shopmates, and his guitars sound drenched in tone, while playing effortlessly up and down the fingerboard. They are thunderous, yet respond beautifully to the lightest touch, letting the trebles "sing" (listen to the end to hear what I mean).

The midrange saturation is so clear on his guitars you can noticeably feel trebles notes vibrate your fretting hand while playing. They are remarkably consistent in treble voice and bass response, whether they're made with Maple or Brazilian Rosewood, like this one. This SJ from 2019 is a sterling example of why we love his sound.

The audio here was captured with a matched pair of Schoeps CMC 6 MK41 microphones into a Neve m88. There is no EQ, compression, reverb or mastering. Truly just the sound of an exceptionally great guitar in a neutral room with great mics. This is the type of guitar I am deeply passionate about, and it's my great pleasure to share this demo, now that it is sold.
