GUSTAVE, THE INVINCIBLE MONSTER OF BURUNDI

This man-eating crocodile is the largest specimen ever discovered. Its gigantic size and thick hide make it invulnerable—even to rifle bullets.

For years, the shores of Lake Tanganyika, near Bujumbura, have been the scene of mysterious disappearances. Many theories have been suggested: serial killer, suicide wave, inter-ethnic revenge… Until reptile hunter Patrice Faye identified the real culprit: “Gustave”, a Nile crocodile over eight meters long.

Zoologists from around the world dream of studying him, but there is only one solution: capture him alive. Patrice Faye takes on this dangerous mission, with the support of the Burundian government and the help of leading international experts.
