INDONESIA HIT by Massive Flash Flood — 670+ Trapped in Homes (Latest Updates)

Floodwaters swept through Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, inundating 120 homes and affecting nearly 500 people across several neighborhoods. Heavy rain caused rivers to overflow, sending muddy water through residential streets and leaving families stranded as rescue teams worked into the night.
The hardest-hit area was Lumin Park in Lubuk Minturun, where rescuers evacuated 178 people. Across Padang, joint rescue teams brought 238 people to safety. By Sunday, officials reported that hundreds had fled their homes, with families sheltering in tents, local homes, a Muslim prayer house, and other temporary locations.
In this video, we examine how the flooding spread across three districts, why Kuranji suffered some of the worst impacts, and how a reported levee breach along the Lapau Munggu River may have worsened the disaster. We also look at damaged homes, disrupted road access, strained rescue resources, and the growing need for emergency shelter.
