The Mysterious Pilliga Scrub Lights Haunting New South Wales No One Can Explain

In the largest native forest west of Australia's Great Dividing Range, long-haul truck drivers have been refusing to stop at night for decades. Not because of the road. Not because of the wildlife. Because of what people report seeing inside the forest alongside the Newell Highway after dark. The Pilliga Scrub covers five thousand square kilometres of dense New South Wales woodland with almost no phone reception and two thousand kilometres of tracks with no exits. It sits on Gamilaraay country, where the most significant cultural site in the forest is deliberately unsignposted at the request of Aboriginal Elders. And the lights that have been reported inside it have no scientific explanation that fits the environment they appear in.
