Hey there, today I'm going to show you how
to draw Patrick Star from SpongeBob SquarePants.
So we're going to start with the eye.
This is basically an oval. So elongated circle
stretched out from top to bottom.
We're going to draw the eye just tucked in behind that on
the left side here.
So starting up here, we're going to draw the same oval of same size and
scale just behind it. So there's a slight overlap here.
We're going to draw in the pupils. So
So basically it's in the middle,
it's a little bit longer than a basic circle, the ovals
of the pupils.
Now let's get down to the mouth.
So just down below the eyes,
right in the center of this eye here, we draw a dot.
From that dot, I'm going to curve an upward line
that goes just on the outside of the
right eye, and then we'll draw a little curve just on the end there.
From this point, I'm going to draw a curve that goes underneath
and back up again, at
the same sort of edge as that top line there.
here I'm just gonna come in a little bit
and do an overlap and draw a curve. Let's draw
the tongue so inside here just up here
I'm just gonna draw a curve that comes
down and then I'll draw another curve that comes down.
So a slight overlap for
the tongue. Let's go to the top of the head.
So he's got a big long forehead so we're
gonna start at the top of this eye
in the middle come up in a curve and then
I'm gonna curl this around
and just back towards the head and then from here I'm
just gonna draw the back of the head
and curve it outwards just like this and
And I'll come just down to about the same level as the mouth here.
I'm going to do an overlap.
So from here, I'm just going to come in a little bit
and draw a curve that goes up.
And I'll round that top off with a hand.
And I'll bring that line back in.
And you can see that I'm getting a little
bit wider as I come back towards the body.
So it's a little bit thicker here than it is in the hand.
Let's go to the front of the body.
So I'm going to imagine this line in the forehead coming past behind
that eye and sort of continuing on here.
So we're going to come around, go outward,
and we're going to start to curve that back in.
And so I'm going to locate where the bottom of the body would be,
which is probably around
here.
So I want it to be the same height as the bottom
of the mouth to the top of the head,
down from the bottom of the mouth to the bottom of the body.
So right about here,
I'm going to curve that line in and sort of stop around center of
that body.
Here, I'm going to do another overlap here behind that hand,
and I'll curve this line
out and back in.
So you'll imagine this thing connecting here,
but this is where the pants come in.
So I'm going to draw an overlap and draw an outward curve here,
and then here I'm just going to go behind
and draw an outward curve there.
This line actually overlaps, so I'm going to draw this a bit longer,
and from here I'm just going to connect
these two points with an upward curve just like this.
Let's go up to the pant line, so his pants, his shorts, are going
to be just about here, and they're going to end off right about here.
So let's draw a curve that goes up for the shorts,
and I'm going to double widen that line up for the detail of the pants.
So starting here, I'll just make it twice as thick just like
so and then let's draw the back of the leg
So here I'm just gonna draw what I did here in the back
So let's start about here.
Draw an outward curve like I did here and I curve this back around
So and I'll tuck this back in underneath behind that belly
and here all I have to do is take a little bit in and
Draw the pointed foot. I'll draw the same thing on this side.
Just like so go up to the arm here
So I'm going to draw this mirrored just behind the belly here.
So right about here is where I want to start.
I'm going to go out, and I'm going to round up the tip of this hand,
and then I'm going to come down to about
the same height as here on the right side.
So back in towards the body.
Draw some eyebrows.
So his eyebrows are basically Z-shaped.
So starting here on this side, outside of the forehead,
I'm going to draw a curve, come back in, and then back out.
So there's one eyebrow, and we'll do this one angled down this way.
Okay, so we draw the top, go across, back down.
If you want, you can go in
and make that a little bit thicker, if you'd like.
And let's get down to the belly button.
So here, in the center of his body,
I'm gonna draw what looks like sort of a C-shape,
and then a larger sort of ring around that.
And draw a little bit of detail in the pants.
So up here, basically a squiggle.
Sort of looks like this.
And this side here, just draw a little squiggle like that.
And I think that's it.
There he is.
