Newport Beach experiences severe flooding

Coastal flooding has struck Newport Beach, specifically the Balboa Peninsula, leaving streets submerged and homes affected. The flooding is linked to Tropical Storm Rachel and rising sea levels. While city crews work overnight to fortify sand berms and operate pumps, many residents and tourists have ignored warnings to stay away, with some even using kayaks in the flooded streets.
