Stop Caring What People Think of You

Productivity Panorama

Have you ever changed the way you act because you were worried about what other people might think of you?

Maybe you've compared yourself to someone else, worried that people don't like you, felt bad when someone didn't approve of you, or avoided doing something because you were afraid of being judged.

I’ve experienced this too. When I was in 10th grade, I often felt disconnected from my classmates and convinced myself that people didn't like me because I wasn't good at academics or sports. Looking back, I realize how much of my happiness was connected to what I thought other people thought about me.

In this video, we explore the ideas from Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga's book, The Courage to Be Disliked, and look at why the need for approval can quietly control our lives.

We’ll talk about why we compare ourselves to others, why other people's success can sometimes feel like our failure, how seeking approval can affect our relationships, and what it means to find happiness through contribution instead of recognition.

Most importantly, we'll explore one uncomfortable question:

What would you do differently if you accepted that some people were going to dislike you anyway?

Maybe freedom isn't about making everyone like you.

Maybe it's about becoming comfortable enough with yourself that you no longer need everyone to.
