Day 9 With Our LGD Puppies 🐕 - A Hectic Day of Livestock Guardian Training.

Day 9 with Henry & Lucie! 🐕🐕🤎
I actually filmed this day before the Day 14 video I posted, so we’re jumping back in time a little bit! 😂
Today is basically a look at an average day of raising and training two livestock guardian puppies who are barely three months old on our 17-acre homestead.
The day starts with feeding Henry and Lucie and getting them settled into their pen, followed by feeding and taking care of all the other animals around the farm.
I also finally put together my sump pump and tried it out on the duck pool, then spent part of the day building another puppy pen beside the goose run. The goal is to be able to separate Henry and Lucie during the day so they can start developing individual relationships with the livestock instead of always relying on each other.
And, of course, things got a little chaotic. 😂
At one point, a chicken ended up inside Lucie’s pen, so I decided to just observe and film how she reacted. She REALLY wanted to play with the chicken and chased it around a bit, but eventually backed off and submitted to it. She later tried chasing it again.
Henry, on the other hand, immediately backed down and respected the chicken, which was a really encouraging moment for him.
They’re still very young and have a LOT to learn, but it’s been really interesting watching their individual personalities develop and seeing how differently they respond to the same situations.
This isn’t a professional training guide—I’m simply documenting our real-life experience raising two Maremma Sheepdog puppies as livestock guardian dogs, including the good, the chaotic, and everything we’re learning along the way.
If you’re interested in livestock guardian dog training, Maremma Sheepdogs, training two puppies together, preventing littermate syndrome, or just following along with our farm dogs as they grow, I hope you enjoy the journey!
Thanks for spending another day on the farm with us! 🌾🐕🤎
