Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire - Episode 8: Wrath of the Gods (Documentary)

A historical documentary episode chronicling the severe third-century crisis that pushed the Roman Empire toward structural destabilization. The narrative follows the escalating tensions between traditional Roman pagan values and the rapid expansion of Christianity under the reigns of Emperor Philip and the traditionalist general Decius. It details internal military mutinies, a devastating viral plague, and systematic religious persecutions alongside full-scale external invasions by Gothic forces under Chieftain Cniva, culminating in the historic Battle of Abritus where a Roman emperor was slain by barbarians for the first time.
