More oversight coming for Alberta landfills

A month-long landfill fire at Eco Recycling in southeast Calgary is prompting Alberta to update its landfill legislation. New provincial registration and stricter operating requirements for high-risk facilities are expected this fall to improve oversight and prevent similar emergencies.
