Father Fish Open Chat: Why Water Flow is Key to a Healthy Aquarium!

In this open chat, Father Fish highlights the critical role of water flow in maintaining a balanced and healthy aquarium. He explains that proper aeration is necessary for the exchange of CO2 and O2. Sponge filters, Father Fish notes, are particularly helpful in the task of water circulation and in the aeration process.
For planted aquariums additional CO2 is not needed because the Father Fish substrate produces enough CO2 for plant growth.
While strong water movement is beneficial, it also has problems: It can cause encrustration. This is where the splashing of water upon the rim area leaves white deposits. But of course, Father Fish has an answer for that too.

Who is Father Fish?

Lou fondly recalls his grandmother in Berlin, Germany, who inspired his love for fish keeping as a child.

As a founder and original board member of the National Aquarium, Lou played a significant role in its development, serving as chair of the Community Relations Committee and participating in the Search Committees. With extensive experience across nearly every level of the fish industry, Father Fish offers a wealth of knowledge and products, including plants, soil supplements, and more, to enhance your aquarium experience.
