🎬 ABOUT BAIT 🎬
In order to find a lost gold mine, a prospector, Marko (Hugo Haas), takes on a partner in young farmer Ray Brighton (John Agar). However, rather than cut Ray in on the wealth, Marko has a plan that will cheat him out of his share. After meeting an attractive waitress, Peggy (Cleo Moore), Marko marries her, not for love, but to use her as bait to set up the unsuspecting Ray. Certain that Peggy will prove irresistible to Ray and convinced he will eventually catch them in bed together, Marko plans to kill the young man and then claim it was justified. And though the scheme seems to be working when Peggy and Ray fall in love, the deception ultimately proves fatal for Marko.
