Flight 14 is over — and now all eyes are on SpaceX’s Flight 15 launch date and the possibility of the first Starship Ship catch at Starbase. With Flight 14 completing an orbital mission, deploying all 26 Starlink V3 satellites, and returning both stages through controlled splashdowns despite engine failures, SpaceX now has a much bigger question to answer: is the system ready for a catch?
A leaked FAA schedule listed October 19 for Flight 15 and October 31 for Flight 16, but those dates remain aggressive targets. S42 and B22 have completed cryogenic testing, while SpaceX still needs to finish engine work, static fires, vehicle inspections, and launch-pad preparations. More importantly, Flight 15 could become the mission where Starship attempts to return directly to the tower and be captured by Mechazilla’s Chopsticks.
