On the surface, it’s pretty simple: you’re making an offer to buy a home that depends on your current home selling first. But there are some really important details that can make or break the deal.
In this video, I break down why buyers use contingent offers, why a seller might actually agree to one, and how things like deadlines, timelines, and a first right of refusal come into play. We’ll also talk about why having your current home completely “push button ready” can make your contingent offer much stronger.
A contingency can protect you from taking on more financial risk than you’re comfortable with, but it doesn’t eliminate every risk. If you’re trying to buy and sell a home at the same time, understanding how these offers work can help you make much smarter decisions throughout the process.
