US, Saudi Arabia investigate after FlyDubai captain attacked by copilot on Israel-bound flight

U.S. President Donald Trump claims Iran may also be linked to the FlyDubai copilot accused of trying to crash an Israel-bound plane.

The United States is investigating the incident, as is Saudi Arabia — the country where Flight FZ1073, which was carrying at least 170 people — made an emergency landing on Wednesday.

Saudia Arabia’s initial investigation indicates the copilot “assaulted” Capt. Smit Machchhar, before the captain managed to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew members to take control.

As Global's Redmond Shannon reports, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the copilot had been “radicalized,” and reportedly posted on social media about killing Jews.
