Oden & Warm Sake by the Irori | A Quiet Autumn Night in Rural Japan【4K ASMR】

An autumn night by the irori.
Tonight begins a little differently, with the iron kettle placed beside the fire a little earlier than usual.
With the kettle and pot together by the hearth, autumn seems to settle a little deeper into the room.
It is finally the season I have been waiting for — oden.
Tonight’s sake is Tengumai.
I gently warm it using hot water from the iron kettle and enjoy it beside the irori.
Steam slowly rises from the pot as I wait for everything to simmer.
In the meantime, leek and atsuage go over the charcoal.
With sake beside me, even waiting for the pot becomes part of the evening.
I serve the first bowl a little early, only to find that the daikon needs a little more time.
But there is nowhere to hurry tonight.
The pot returns to the fire, and the night continues at its own pace.
Warmed, the Tengumai becomes beautifully mellow.
After the warm oden broth, another sip feels especially comforting.
Later, I lower the lights.
Only the red glow of the embers and the gently simmering pot remain.
Perhaps it is the sake, or perhaps the fire itself, but I find myself simply watching the scene for a while.
To finish the evening, udon goes into the remaining broth.
While it cooks, I pour a cup of tea.
Warm udon and tea slowly bring warmth back through the body.
It has been almost three months since I moved to the countryside.
At first, I needed navigation even for a simple trip to the shops.
Now, more roads are becoming familiar, and I recently found a local hair salon that I like.
Perhaps becoming part of a place happens quietly —
as more and more little things begin to feel familiar.
In this vast world, you somehow found this little irori
I’d like to treasure that small connection
So you can find this fire again, I hope you’ll stay close

At AN, I live with a traditional irori hearth in an old Japanese house, while enjoying Japan’s traditions and craftsmanship in a way that feels natural in modern life.
Some nights stay close to the old ways. Other nights are enjoyed a little more freely, letting tradition settle naturally into life today.
This is not a place to perfectly recreate the past or to teach a single “right” way.
I simply enjoy what tastes good, pour the drink I feel like having, and spend quiet time watching the fire.
Somewhere between tradition and modern life, I try not to force anything, and simply value what feels right in that moment.
These are the quiet Japanese nights I enjoy, and hope to share with you.
