Sometimes finding wild horses is easy.

Sometimes they make you earn it.

After a long climb into the mountains, I came across a band of horses I had never seen before. They weren't interested in introductions, family histories, or explaining what they were doing so far from anywhere I expected to find them.

They had places to be.

The band kept moving steadily through the trees, pausing only long enough to make sure I wasn't doing anything too suspicious before continuing on their way.

For a first meeting, they were friendly enough.
By horse standards, anyway.
