Midori plays Spring Cadenzas, a violin concerto written for her by Derek Bermel, featuring A Far Cry, the young musicians of Boston's Project STEP and conductor Earl Lee.

This concerto was written to be performed via internet. In autumn 2020, with young musicians isolated at home, Midori asked Derek Bermel for a piece she could perform with youth orchestras remotely and in real time. Instead of battling the built-in delay of online connections, Bermel composed it into the music, building the work around the soloist's cadenzas. Six youth orchestras across the US premiered it over Zoom in spring 2021.

Once musicians could come together again, Bermel expanded the score into the full orchestra version heard here, with young musicians from Project STEP playing alongside the professionals of A Far Cry.
