(Una Furtiva Lagrima / Gaetano Donizetti)
The name *Kkotmureut* (Red Spider Lily) is said to originate from the fact that the flowers bloom in spectacular clusters.
They bloom from mid-September to early October and are also known as *Seoksan* (Stone Lily).
They are perennial bulbous plants belonging to the Amaryllis family
and grow in clusters at the foot of mountains or in damp soil.
Although *Kkotmureut* belongs to the same Amaryllis family as *Sangsahwa* (Resurrection Lily),
the shape of the flowers and the timing of the leaves and blossoms differ.
With *Sangsahwa*, the flowers bloom after the leaves have withered,
whereas with *Kkotmureut*, the leaves sprout after the flowers have faded.
Therefore, it is incorrect to call *Kkotmureut* by the name *Sangsahwa*.
Because of the ecological characteristic where leaves and flowers never appear together,
they carry the flower meanings of "unrequited love" and "sad memories."
Thus, they symbolize a relationship where the flower and leaf never meet,
yet endlessly long for and think of one another.
