In Julie Duncan's own words:
"I started experimenting with photography in 2010 and happily embrace the axiom that there is always something new to learn. My melancholic disposition guides me in capturing the often unnoticed elegance and whimsy in nature. I am also drawn to landscapes and man-made environments that depict a nostalgic or uncanny liminality. I have an ongoing interest in the deep poignancy expressed in the Japanese aesthetics of wabi-sabi. Instead of planning photo-shoots, I prefer to wander slowly with an open heart and capture whatever appeals to me in the moment. I don't normally "set up" items to be photographed; rather, I take things as I find them - in all their glorious disarray and rawness. My photography is deeply personal. If it doesn't please me, then it isn't any good. This philosophy affords me massive amounts of freedom and joy.
