How to Grow a TON of Greens in a Small Space

Fall temperatures are finally starting to arrive here in South Georgia, which means it's time to get our mustard and turnip greens planted!
In this video, we're direct seeding four raised beds with All Top Turnip, Purple Top Turnip, Southern Curled Mustard, and Savanna Mustard. And when it comes to planting greens, we like to keep things simple. We broadcast the seeds fairly thick across the bed, lightly cover them with soil, water everything in, and let them grow!
We'll show you our entire planting process and explain why we intentionally plant our greens so thick. We'll also talk about the difference between planting turnips for greens versus roots, how deep these tiny seeds should be planted, why moisture is so important during germination, and what to do if your seedlings come up a little too thick.
One of the best things about fall greens is how much food you can grow in a relatively small space. Once these beds get going, we should be able to harvest from them repeatedly throughout the cool season.
If you've been waiting for cooler temperatures to plant your fall garden, now's the time to get those greens growing!
