Investigation underway after woman found dead in hospital bed inside home, police say

Police are investigating after a woman was found dead inside a home in North Philadelphia.

Officers were called to a residence on the 1200 block of West Erie Avenue around 5:45 p.m. Thursday after family members responded to a wellness check.

According to police, relatives entered the home and found the 48-year-old woman dead in a hospital bed.

Investigators said the woman had apparent injuries to her face and head.

Authorities said she was last seen alive around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
