Of all Simon’s travels and adventures, the most impactful was his 1995 journey to Mount Kailash in Tibet. Since then, he had only one desire: to return. This film follows that quest through China, following the ancient Silk Road from Beijing to Kashgar in the Uighur country, then along the Taklamakan Desert to the forbidden gates of Tibet.
Accompanied by New York artist Aric Mayer and French cinematographer Thomas Lallier, the trio experiences travel as a mental and sensory journey. Immersed in the forgotten territories of Xinjiang, they offer three distinct perspectives on a world caught between thousand-year-old traditions and a mysterious reality.
