AI GeneratedThis video features an interview with Gina, a student who transformed from a stiff, anxious non-dancer into a confident dancer over a 10-week program. The discussion highlights the psychological and physical shifts Gina experienced, emphasizing the importance of structured guidance and professional feedback over self-learning via platforms like YouTube.
Maybe you've been watching the videos of others dancing
and you wished you were able to dance like them.
Well, one of my clients in the program, Gina,
would always watch the videos of my clients,
the before and after videos that I post.
And because she was never able to dance,
especially in public,
she felt a little bit jealous of how my clients are dancing.
So fast forward a little bit, she joined the program
and now I wanted to interview her and share her story.
It's very, very inspiring.
And it shows you that you can learn how to dance at any age,
no matter how bad you think you are,
you can change how you feel about dancing
and how you feel dancing forever.
If someone asked me to dance,
I would feel I have to get really brave
to get up on the dance floor.
And once I would get up on the dance floor,
maybe a few stanzas of the song,
I'd be doing something and then going, now what?
Now I'm gonna start looking like an idiot.
I had no moves.
It was not good.
But not only the way I looked,
but I wanted to groove to the music.
I wanted to feel it and enjoy it.
And I wasn't enjoying it.
I would be up there going, oh geez,
when is this song gonna end?
I gotta get off the dance floor.
I wasn't really enjoying the music like I wanted to.
I know that what you struggled with,
you said no movements, looking stiff.
Rhythm was also, putting the movements to the beat
was also something that was difficult.
How was your coordination?
Moving different body parts all at once
and making it look natural.
I think it's coming along well.
I am moving lots of different body parts
that I didn't think I could do.
I'm becoming more aware of my body
and I'm loosening things up.
My legs have a lot of tension still.
But I feel like things are loosening up.
So I always say the order is
we have to first build coordination.
So you even can move two, three,
four different things at once.
Then we work on getting rid of stiffness
because we cannot do everything at once.
The body has to be able to first
even do the basic movements together
without using the beat.
Because probably you can move your hip,
your feet, your arms,
but can you match everything correctly to the music?
And can you do it without looking
like you're thinking too hard?
Once we have that,
then we are working on loosening everything up.
It's just amazing where I've come in 10 weeks.
I submitted a video for your assessment
and you said, Gina, you're a dancer.
And I really didn't believe it,
but then I look back and see where I've come from
and how I can just really enjoy the music.
I can move.
I can feel my body move.
It's a transformation in 10 weeks.
Really.
It's so amazing to hear.
You made this comment that you used to watch my students
do figure eight movements,
those hip movements that you never thought
you'd be able to do.
And now look at you.
This is like figure eight.
It's like your go-to move.
I can do those figure eights.
They're so natural for me.
And I love it.
I just love the whole thing.
And one of the things that I also wanted to mention,
we were working on the arms.
I see a lot of beginners,
when they start dancing,
when they are on the dance floor,
they are very close to themselves.
They're keeping the arms very tight.
They are afraid to take up space.
And when I was watching your videos even recently,
you're just going for it.
The arms are swinging.
You're not afraid to take up space.
And that to me is also a good sign
of you are more confident dancing now.
I really think I am a lot more confident.
And now if I'm at a wedding,
I won't need to be brave to get up on the dance floor.
I'll just be confident.
And it's gonna be a whole different thing.
I don't go out much in the clubs,
but I did get out once a number of weeks ago.
And I was really excited to do my few moves
that I knew early in the program.
But I was real confident when I went out there.
But now after 10 weeks,
it's gonna be a whole different scene.
I also wanted to kind of get your reaction
to how you would compare your lesson 10 video,
because you finished 10 weeks,
to the first one.
Like what changed?
Night and day, what's changed?
I kind of look ridiculous back.
And I mean, I was trying hard,
but everything was stiff and not moving right.
And you got me through it.
And I feel like a totally different person
in the 10th week.
Totally different person.
But I wouldn't have gotten there without your guidance.
What needs to change every week.
So I wouldn't have gotten there by myself.
10 weeks on YouTube wouldn't give you the same results.
You don't think?
Not at all.
Would never have done it.
On YouTube, there are many, many videos,
but nothing is organized.
So a lot of people, they say,
they don't know where to start, what to do next.
If they are learning in the right order,
it's just confusing.
It's so much information.
You need guidance to understand that you're doing it wrong.
Like you don't even know yourself, you're doing it wrong.
People don't really know what they look like.
Even if you're dancing in front of a mirror,
you can't really tell what you're doing.
It's amazing what you see when I submit the videos
and how helpful you are with the feedback.
And it's critical.
It's critical to improve.
Yeah, because then you actually can make progress, right?
If you're just trying by yourself,
you don't know how to correct your own movements.
After a while, you will either give up
or it will be a very painful process to learn
and it will take a very long amount of time.
You had said before I started, 10 weeks.
And right around week six,
I realized there's so many moves that I've learned already.
And then by another four weeks,
I think I was loosening up a little bit.
You have a way for us to,
a very seasoned way for us to remember those moves
and to not have to worry about thinking about them.
They all get categorized in different little sections
and we can just remember all the moves,
but there's so much you can do.
And I wouldn't have gotten there without the guidance,
weekly guidance that you give us.
Thank you for saying that.
Yeah, and I think the most common complaint
also with learning on YouTube was that
even if you learn the movement,
a week later, you don't remember what you've learned.
And now how do you use it when you go out?
It's a waste of time.
If you're not memorizing the movement that you're learning,
it's a waste of time because when you get
onto the dance floor and you won't know what to do.
So in the program, of course,
each week builds on the previous week
and we have a system to memorize everything
that you're doing.
So you'll never forget the movement.
If you also struggle with dancing,
maybe you've tried learning by yourself
and it just didn't give you the results that you wanted,
I invite you to book a one-on-one free consultation with me
where we'll identify what you struggle with
when it comes to dancing,
and we'll figure out a way that I can help you
inside my own program.
You can join hundreds of beginners
that are currently learning with me.
You can literally go from the sidelines
onto the dance floor in no time.
Book at the link below.
I will also pin it in the comments
and I'm looking forward to talking to you.
