🎬 ABOUT THE SOUTHERN STAR 🎬
In 1912 French West Africa, Kramer (Harry Andrews), a wealthy diamond miner, is celebrating both the discovery of the Southern Star, the world's largest diamond, and the engagement of his daughter Erica (Ursula Andress) to geologist Dan Rockland (George Segal). When the Star is stolen, however, Dan's friend Matakit (Johnny Sekka) is suspected of the theft and hightails it into the jungle. Following him are Dan and Erica, as well as Capt. Ludwig (Ian Hendry), a villain who wants the diamond for himself. Sodden trader Roger Plankett (Orson Welles) also joins the hunt, which reaches its climax when Kramer discovers the Star wasn't stolen after all, but swallowed by his pet ostrich.
