Police name suspect, officer shot in shootout outside Ontario synagogue

A shooting occurred outside a synagogue during Yom Kippur services in Quincy West. The suspect, 29-year-old Sean Ward, opened fire on Constable Jeff Smith, who is now in critical but stable condition. Two officers discharged their weapons during the encounter. The suspect is currently hospitalized in life-threatening condition, and the SIU is investigating the incident.
