CHANGING OUR RELIGION

Wherever you are in the world, the chances are that you live in a nation founded upon a religion. This project was photographed in England which has a heritage based on pagan beliefs and subsequently Christianity, but this project is not so much about belief as how, over the centuries, the religion manifests itself in architecture and interiors in places of worship. It will be the same for any religion. From ancient pagan long barrows and mysterious hills linked by ley lines to soaring Victorian abbeys, the architecture of religion in England has moved, for better or worse, with the changing times. It’s part of the international story.
