Who Were the Luddites?

In this video we look at the Luddites. A movement of people in protest against the rapid mechanisation of production, in Britain, that took place in the early 19th Century, during the world-changing Industrial Revolution.

It wasn't a movement based solely on the fear of workers being replaced by machines, but also raised questions about the integrity of a machine making something versus a person.

Through learning more about the Luddites from this video and wider reading, the parallels between the technological revolution of the 18th and 19th Centuries and the one we are currently facing, become clearer and clearer.

And because of that, despite living in a markedly different world. The Luddites can provide us inspiration and insight for our own times.
